1 Introduction:

The purpose of this report is to provide and update of progress and quality

on the additions and rehabilitations of High School This report is based

upon thorough visual examination of the site only made from ground level

and other readily accessible points.

2 Scope of the Project:

The Project entitle the New, Upgrades, Additions & Rehabilitation of the

existing school in terms of:

Erection of 8 classrooms

Erection of 12 enviroloos toilets

Electrical repairs, replacement of roofs

General renovations, to all 12 classrooms, 2 labs, consumer

centre, library & admin block & repair to flashing toilets.

Construction of Nutrition Centre.

3 Project Status Report at 04-09-2014

Project’s Details.

In accordance with the scope of work and the site plan, the contractor is

carrying out the filling and compaction in four classroom blocks after the

concrete and wall bricks as per drawings and was pouring concrete in other

four classrooms strip foundations. They are also working on the renovations

of 12 classrooms and 10 flashing toilets

Excavation for the foundation of the one of 4 classroom blocks, was not

done correctly as is suppose to be done making the correct platform or

doing step foundation; then now the brick wall foundation is very high, at

some areas by 1.7 meters which is not allowed from technical structural

international norms, and even the contractor did not do the filling back

properly, because is suppose to do the filling on the external brick walls too.

Page 3: Site Inspection Report at Construction School

The renovation over the 12 classroom block is in progress but is very slowly

their perform, our opinion is based because the contractor it should be busy

working on the internal walls at the same time and organizing pouring

concrete for the new floor into the classroom blocks. We did not get info

about the stage of the roof suppliers.

There are other issues that should be addressed by the contractor, like

fixing a broken pipe which is filling all the site area with water; and also,

taking in consideration the big slopping area on site the contractor, should

think in the solution to avoid the raining water go inside the trenches during

the foundation stage of the buildings.

Challenges / Issues:

The Project is behind schedule at the moment of the site inspection,

there is no progress and there is no action from the contractor.

because politics as the way there were explain.

If the cause of the delay is very justified; the contractor it should

submit to the project manager the proper letter for extension of time.

The date when the project to be completed is in risk because after

25 % of the time elapsed the project is almost starting.

The Contractor should submit a new construction program made

with the Micro Soft Project to know when they are going to finish the

project.

The Contractor has not foreman or site supervisor on site.

Solutions

The Contractor it should manage to hire a skilled foreman to make

sure the foundations will be build correctly.

Extension of time for Practical Completion should be issued by the

contractor through a letter to PA, due to the delays, if is allowed at

this time and even must be evaluated the cost implication.

The contractor should present a new strategy to recover the days

behind the schedule in the earthworks.

The construction programme with the detailed information about the

progress, block by block should be finished as soon as possible.

The contractor should take in consideration build temporary surface

drainages to help evacuate the rain water within the trenches.
