The Sir Edmund Hillary Scholarship Programme enables the achievement of all-round excellence. Above all, it recognises the importance of balance in fostering the development of future leaders and successful careers. If you have excelled academically, and on the field or stage, this programme will provide you with the skill development and support you need to continue to achieve your aspirations on both fronts.

What makes the programme special is the emphasis placed on academic achievement, on strong support systems, and on partnerships between the University of Waikato and sporting organisations and groups that support the creative and performing arts.

Waikato University has educated some of New Zealand’s top sports people and artists. At Waikato we build well-rounded graduates who can balance their academic, social and recreational challenges. This programme builds on that tradition.
