History

Sion is one of the oldest and most reputed suburbs in Mumbai.

It was originally called as Sheev, which means boundary or limit as it is the last locality in the limits of Mumbai.

It was taken over by the Portuguese in the 16th century, who renamed it Sion, after Mount Zion in Jerusalem.

Introduction

Today, Sion is one the most important suburbs in Mumbai, as it provides easy connectivity to the entire city via roadways and railways.

It is also an important landmark as it is one of the major transit points in and out of Mumbai, due to its proximity to intra and inter-state highways.
