The type of work at site was Soil stabilization and grouting for extension of road lane. Seminar A National Seminar on Challenges in transportation Engineering (CiTE’18) was conducted in April 2018 where the resource persons were Prof. Mokaddes Ali Ahmed (Professor and Dean, CE, NIT Silchar) and Dr. Pritam Saha (Assistant Professor, CE, IIEST Shibpur). Subham Sarda, Monideep Banerjee, Shubham Debnath, Bikram Modak, Aakash Saha (Team: Baka Coders) of CSE, 6th Sem participated in Smart India Hackathon 2018 organised by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Govt. of India at JECRC Foundation, JECRC University in Jaipur in March, 2018. Smart India Hackathon 2018 by CSE & IT Image Processing & Pattern Recognition Department of CSE organized a Workshop on “Image Processing & Pattern Recognition” in April, 2018. The Resource Persons was Mr. Abhishek Nandy, a Microsoft MVP in the Windows platform, an Intel Black Belt developer as well as an Intel software innovator. Cryptography & Network Security Departments of CSE, IT and Computer Application organized 2-day Seminar on “Cryptography & Network Security” on 13th and 14th August, 2018. The Resource persons were Dr. Sarmistha Neogy, Professor, Department of CSE, Jadavpur University and Dr. Sovamoy Changder, Professor, Dept. of Computer Science and Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Durgapur. One Day seminar on Various topics of Science and Technology A one-day seminar on various topics of science and technology was organised at SIT in August, 2018. Mrinal Kundu (Ex. Superintendent Engg., PWD) was the speaker. The objectives were to generate in the young minds a zeal for looking beyond the horizons in the new and emerging fields of science and technology, to generate in the young minds a dream to place themselves there as future scientists/entrepreneurs for the overall advancement of technology to the society. Resource Persons who conducted the hands on training were Dr. Kaushik Niyogi, eminent Motivational Speaker on 10.08.2018 and Prabir Chatterjee, Mind Trainer on 11.08.2018. The modern world demands mobility. Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS), also called Intelligent Transportation Systems apply communications and Information Technology to provide solutions to this congestion as well as other traffic control issues. Problems like high traffic congestion, low safety and endangered environment can be solved through innovative and sophisticated ways of handling latest techniques that have emerged in recent years in integrating information technology, electronics and telecommunication with roads and traffic management. When integrated into the transportation system infrastructure, these technologies help monitor and manage traffic flow, reduce congestion, provide alternate routes to travellers, enhance productivity, and save lives, time and money. Intelligent Transportation Systems provides the tools for skilled transportation professionals to collect, analyze, and archive data about the performance of the system during the hours of peak use.
