Benjamin Yudin, Rabbi Andrew Markowitz, Associate Rabbi Shomrei Torah Shabbat Shelach - Shabbat Mevarchim 23 Sivan, 5777/ June 16-17, 2017 Bullen sponsored by Carol Weissmann-Re/Max Properes Select: direct 201-390-6600 or Carolwrealtor@ gmail.com PACHIM KETANIM FROM RABBI YUDIN: IN HONOR OF PARSHAT SHELACH Some Rashis enjoy greater notoriety than others. The opening Rashi of this parsha citing the Medrash Tan- chuma, explains the juxtaposition between last weeks incident of lashon hora by Miriam and the meraglim of this week. These great men saw that she was punished because of her evil speech and they should have learned from her not to speak lashon hora about Eretz Yisrael. Rav Neventzhal shlita asks the obvious ques- tion. Miriam spoke about a man with feelings and sensitivities and therefore was punished; they however spoke about inanimate earth and rocks, so why should they be punished? He answers that the primary sin of Miriam was that she did not realize that Moshe was unlike any other Prophet- he was in a category unto him- self. Indeed, this is the seventh of the Rambams thirteen principles of faith. Similarly, the land of Israel is not like any other; it too is in a supernatural category unto itself, hand-picked and elevated by G-d Himself, and therefore the meraglim were deserving of punishment. NURSERY SCHOOL NEWS This week marked the last official day of the nursery school year. To cele-brate, the children had an end of the year party. They had a sing along of their favorite songs throughout the year in their classrooms and joined to-gether in the big room for a craft and special snack of cake, chips and wa-termelon. Rabbi Yudin joined the party as did some of the parents and grandparents. Each child was presented with a special gift to enjoy over the summer. We will miss those children who are moving on to the day schools and look forward to another year of growth and learning with those children who are returning in the Fall. The children also made Fathers Day gifts to give to their special Abbas. On Friday our teachers will participate in a pro-fessional development workshop on differentiated instruction in the early childhood classroom. We thank our own Tara Gensler for preparing this informative session.

The Summer kicks off at the Nursery School on Monday, June 19th. There is still time to sign up for the full or partial summer. We are also registering for the Fall of 2017 and would love to have your children with us. Call or e-mail the school office for more details. Shabbat Shalom.
