When Ari and Inbal Elman enthusiastically agreed right away to be the chairs, we were ready to move forward with the planning. So when Kenny Friedman then emailed me requesting (or better yet begging) for himself and Marla to chair, we were in a bind. But it was also around that time that I was asked by a shul member what entertainment we will be having. I was told that one shul in town recently had a mind reader at their banquet, another shul is soon having a comedian at theirs, and that crowds these days are obviously looking for some sort of show. At that point I realized that allowing the Friedmans to co-chair would actually be very helpful, and agreed to Kenny’s request. I can now guarantee you that Kenny Friedman’s opening monologue as co-chair and MC of the event will be a show you do not want to miss! There is also a good chance for round-two of the epic and memorable Kenny vs. Dov roast exchange at the Shomrei banquet of 1999. Well, at least it was memorable for me and Kenny as the highlight of our stage careers. If someone has a video, please share it with me so we can finally remind Kenny that I won and put his version of revisionist history to rest. Following the opening act, the feature presentation will be a powerful tribute to a group of individuals who are so deserving of recognition and appreciation. Aryeh, Sandy, Chaim, Riki, Tommy, Judy, Hal, and Vicki have made the shul what it is today and exemplify Shomrei’s core values. We will be recognizing people who teach Torah and read the Torah. People who make all of us proud to be part of the same Shul Family. Professionals who somehow find time to volunteer for the shul and have served in vital leadership positions over many years. Retirees whose devotion and countless volunteer hours dedicated to Shomrei is simply inspiring. Representatives of the “new generation” who are continuing their parents’ legacy of Avodas Hakodesh. President’s Message

Dear Shomrei Family,

It’s hard to believe that the Evening of Appreciation is only three weeks away!

In the initial discussions about the event months ago, it was decided to have one couple serve as chairs instead of two couples co-chairing as in the past.

And these are just a few examples.

Considering all of this combined with what will surely be an exquisite culinary experience, it is not surprising that reservations for the event are already coming in at a record pace. Thank you to the many people who have reserved and participated in the campaign. If you haven’t, please do so as soon as possible as spots are limited and filling up fast. I look forward to seeing you on February 17th.
