  • The ministry of SHC is funded entirely by the generous giving of Gods people. You will notice that we do not pass the offering plate; however, there are offering boxes in the back of the auditorium. We believe from the Word of God that the Spirit of God will lead people towards giving back to God of their first fruits. ...God loves a cheerful giver, (2 Cor. 9:7). • LUKE Part 33

Yep, Hes the One Luke 7:18-35

    Presented by Pastor Matt MacCollin

    August 9, 2015

Welcome this Sunday August 9th. How are you doing? This is where we are trained to say, Fine. But really, is there anything this week you are dealing with that you wish was different, anything that causes you to ask questions of God? Many come in on any given Sunday, puzzled. They know God exists and even believe the statement that without faith its impossible to please Him, but they question His methods, doubt He is in control, worry about the future. Can you relate to this?

Now, please imagine for a moment sitting in a prison for doing the right thing. The real bummer is that youre pretty sure theyre going to kill you. That would be a fiery trial. True? That would be beyond difficult. In that situation you might find yourself questioning God. Especially when you

  • know He has the power to take out the wicked government that put you there.

There was a man sent from God and his name was John. He believed Gods Word. He was confident in his walk as the Spirit led him. He proclaimed Jesus clearly to anybody within earshot. Fact is, he understood exactly what his mission on earth was, but today as we study again in the Book of Luke, we will see this man sent from God sitting in prison, befuddled.

The question John asks and the answers Jesus gives, relate directly to you and me as well.

    REVIEW

John knew his whole life what his purpose was.

John knew Jesus was the Messiah. He proclaimed it!

John was bold. He confronted sin.

  • HUMAN CONFUSION

You can, and often will, become confused in the midst of fiery trials.

God can handle your questions and is not discouraged by your discouragement.

Often God will handle your questions with, Slow down.

Prayerfully look to the visible evidences of Gods work around you and to Gods Word for your answers. Remain thankful.

Jesus said well off and happy is that person who is not tripped up by the way He does things.

Notice Jesus did not tell John everything, but what He told him was enough for his circumstances and questions.

  • SALVATIONS CONFIDENCE

God has confidence in His people, for He will finish the good work He began in you.

You, in heaven, will be greater than the greatest prophet to walk this earth. But you need this Savior to get there.

Self-reflective believers work through their doubts knowing God is just, trusting His ways.

God does life His way. Peace is found in His wisdom.

  • IMPORTANT CONCLUSION

Placing your faith in Christ for salvation is the only way to have His confidence.

Do you believe that God loves you and will work all things together for good as you love Him, or is there something hardening your heart toward Christ?

What do you need to bring to the throne of grace today?
