From the Stitch Texture - Red (B), cut:• (6) 3” x WOF strips. Sub-cut (80) 3” squares.• (6) 2 ½” x WOF strips for the binding.

From the Stitch Stripe - Black (C), cut:• (3) 5 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut (20) 5 ½” squares. From the Stitch Texture - White (D), cut:• (6) 3” x WOF strips. Sub-cut (72) 3” squares.• (3) 2” x WOF strips. Sew the strips together end to end with diagonal seams and cut (2) 2” x 45 ½” strips.• (3) 2” x WOF strips. From the Tossed Sewing Motifs - Black (I), cut:• (2) 4 ½” x 56 ½” Length of Fabric (LOF) strips.• (2) 4 ½” x 48 ½” WOF strips from the remaining fabric, piece as needed.

From the Pins and Needles - Black (J), cut:• (3) 5 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut (20) 5 ½” squares.

From the Stitch Texture - Gray (K), cut:• (3) 3” x WOF strips. Sub-cut (32) 3” squares.

From the Pins and Needles - White (Backing), cut:• (2) 64” x WOF strips for the backing. Sew the strips together and trim to make the 64” x 64” back.

Sewing Instructions1. Place (1) 3” Fabric D square on the top left corner of (1) 5 ½” Fabric C square, right sides together (Fig. 1). Sew across the diagonal of the smaller square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Fig. 1). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 2). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle ¼” away from the sewn seam.

2. Follow Figure 3 for the seam direction to add a 3” Fabric D square to the upper right corner and 3” Fabric B squares to the lower right and left corners of the 5 ½” Fabric C square to make (1) Unit 1 block (Fig. 4).

3. Repeat Steps 1-2 to make (20) Unit 1 blocks total.

4. Repeat Steps 1-2 and use Figures 5 through 7 for fabric identification, location and seam direction to make (20) Unit 2 blocks, (16) Unit 3 blocks and (16) Unit 4 blocks.

Quilt Top Assembly (Refer to the Quilt Layout while assembling.)7. Sew (1) Block One square to each side of (1) Block Two square to make Row One. Repeat to make Row Three.

8. Sew (1) Block Two square to each side of (1) Block One square to make Row Two.

9. Sew the (3) rows together in numerical order to make the Center Block.

10. Sew (1) 2” x 45 ½” Fabric D strip to each side of the Center Block. Sew (1) 2” x 48 ½” Fabric D strip to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block.

11. Sew (1) 4 ½” x 48 ½” Fabric I strip to each side of the Center Block. Sew (1) 4 ½” x 56 ½” Fabric I strip to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block to make the quilt top.

12. Layer and quilt as desired.

13. Sew the (6) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric B strips together, end to end with 45-degree seams, to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and press.

14. Bind as desired.

5. Sew (1) Unit 1 block to each side of (1) 5 ½” Fabric A square. Sew (1) Unit 2 block to each side of (1) Unit 1 block. Repeat to make a second strip. Sew the strips to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric A square to make (1) Block One square (Fig. 8). Repeat to make (5) Block One squares total. Pay attention to the orientation of the units.

6. Sew (1) Unit 3 block to each side of (1) 5 ½” Fabric E square. Sew (1) Unit 4 block to each side of (1) Unit 3 block. Repeat to make a second strip. Sew the strips to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric E square to make (1) Block Two square (Fig. 9). Repeat to make (4) Block Two squares total. Pay attention to the orientation of the units.
