From “A Brief Statement of Faith” (God)In life and in death we belong to God.Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel,

whom alone we worship and serve.

We trust in God, whom Jesus called Abba, Father. In sovereign love God created the world good

and makes everyone equally in God's image, male and female, of every race and people,to live as one community.

But we rebel against God; we hide from our Creator.Ignoring God's commandments,

we violate the image of God in others and ourselves, accept lies as truth, exploit neighbor and nature, and threaten death to the planet entrusted to our care.

We deserve God's condemnation.

Yet God acts with justice and mercy to redeem creation. In everlasting love, the God of Abraham and Sarah

chose a covenant people to bless all families of the earth.Hearing their cry, God delivered the children of Israel

from the house of bondage. Loving us still,God makes us heirs with Christ of the covenant.

Like a mother who will not forsake her nursing child, like a father who runs to welcome the prodigal home,God is faithful still.

With believers in every time and place, we rejoicethat nothing in life or in death, can separate usfrom the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,and to the Holy Spirit. Amen.

College ConnectionEvery Spring we sent our college students an envelope of notes written by our congregation. With all colleges going to online classes, we would still like to support our college students with notes on encouragement and love. If you would like to send a note by email, please send to [email protected]. Specify which student it is for in the subject line and I will print out and put it in their envelope. We will mail out envelopes by the end of the month. Below is a list of our college students:

Kyle Barker, Jonah Ewing, Avery Fehrenbach, Michael Fehrenbach, Jack Hayes, Josh Hill, Cole Kinser, Katie Kinser, Matthew LeCras, Holt McNeer, Sarah McNeer, Peyton Mills, Zeb Mills, Lexy Nelson, Tori Nelson, Emma Niehaus, Kevin Peischl, Rachel Perkins, Bradlee Saterfield, Ben Schnetzer, Abby Sherrard, and Max Stainton.

Mission Possible: SCHOOL KIT 14

Everything is changing with Coronavirus 19, but school will again start this year for inner city kids and Heritage is again doing our Back-To-School Kit mission. This is our 14th year for the Kit Drive in our long-running mission partnership with Carmel Presbyterian Church in Avondale.

Drive starts next Sunday, June 28 – with VBS Kickoff (in a way). Instead of the usual kick-off by Vacation Bible School, we’re borrowing the theme and calling this drive Mission Possible after the postponed VBS program. This will really be a Mission Possible challenge with church attendance diminished and many members staying home-bound, says Charlie McCaulou, again trail boss for the drive. No goal is being set for this year’s drive, given all the unknowns.

WAYS TO GIVE - A sample kit is again displayed on the Mission board in the Atrium. You don’t need to supply complete kits. It can be easier to just donate multiples of a particular item. We’ll again have a big bin in the Narthex to accept donations. For personal safety, members may prefer to send a check and let our committee do the shopping. Mark checks on the designation line for “Mission Committee/School Supplies.” Put check in offering plate on Sunday or mail to the church.

Jointly conducted by Mission and Susie Faas’ Children’s Ministry, the drive will run through Sunday, Aug. 2. Mission will report each Sunday where we stand on donations. Backpack Kits will be joyfully assembled Aug. 5, 6-8 p.m., by a wonderful all-ages mix of youth and adult volunteers.

The Back-To-School drive is always a big challenge, but with many members donating, we surprise ourselves every year and stuff a van to bursting..

Our Daily Bread Needs Sandwiches

We have long supported Our Daily Bread in Cincinnati which serves a noontime meal to the hungry. They are no longer serving inside by giving out bag lunches. Since the start of the pandemic their demand has doubled. We have been asked to help provide sandwiches. We collect them Wednesday before 6 pm and deliver them Thursday morning.

If you can help with 8 simple sandwiches (bread, cheese and meat or PB & J each marked) contact Nelson Kennedy and he’ll put you down for a week (513-470-1279).
