She also told her personal story of being a stubborn child, particularly after the death of her mother when she was three years old. Her wise father sent her to a convent school as a 5th grader for discipline. She began to hear a call for a religious vocation and at first she resisted her call. Her dad even agreed with her saying she was too naughty to be a sister, but the call kept coming and she eventually gave her life to the Lord. She has been a sister with this order for over 20 years. Her calling is to teach but sisters of this order have many roles. Some teach as she does, some serve as nurses and doctors or they can serve in many other occupations. The Daughters of Divine Love are a pontifical order and answer directly to the Pope. They were founded on July 16,1969 at Ukpor in Nigeria. Their Mother house is in Nigeria, and they have Regional Houses in Gabon, Germany, Kenya, Rome, London, Nigeria, and USA; their mission is to foster a deep love of God and one another. The sisters have a convent in Humble and work at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School in Houston and St. Mary’s parish in Humble. Sister Thecla concluded her talk by asking all to sing “I Will Go Lord”. She could not stress the need for prayer enough. “Keep praying, prayer is the key to everything.” MEETING CHANGE -March 27 meeting will NOT be held at Italiano’s. Instead all Serrans are invited to listen to Father Hurley and support the St. Martha’s Mission. We are encouraged to sit together on March 27, 7:30 p.m. at St. Martha’s.
