September President’s Message A smoky hello to all of you. Once again, our neighboring states are

sending us smoke signals. With all the spring moisture, we knew it

would be just a matter of time before we would experience the

campfire smell of late summer. This month brings us closer to our

club’s election of officers. If you would like to serve on the Board,

please step forward as we welcome turn over. As you heard last

meeting, Ithel is stepping down from his position as Field Trip

Chairman. That being the case we are in need of a new Chairman.

This is a position that can be shared and in past years, we have

spread it throughout the members. It is necessary to have a person in

charge in order to delegate some of the responsibilities. If you are

interested, please contact a board member or me so we can get you

on the slate. The field trips are what draws the most recruitment to our

club so we need to fill this position.

Jim has once again come up with a great program, which will be given

by Larry Ridley on claims and protocol. It will be very interesting and I

am looking forward to learning more about this subject.

Susan made it known that she will be holding a training class for our

Annual Gem Show chairpersons. This class is to be held in October

and she will announce the date at this month’s general meeting.

Randy reported to the board that our donation to the Museum would

be apportioned to the Glen Evans display on behalf of the OGMS.

Also they welcome any members who are wanting to lend a hand in

restoration to get in contact with the director in order to get direction

where help is needed. Please keep track of your hours, as I will need

an end of year report for our tax status. Randy also wanted to make

the membership aware that the campus is now a nonsmoking campus

so if you need to smoke you must go completely off of the College

grounds to do that.

Our next board meeting will be at the Caldwell Library on the 25th if you

would like to attend, guests are always welcome

As always, I look forward to seeing you all at the next General Meeting

on September 20th in the Boone Science Building. The meeting starts

at 7:30pm. Till then keep on rocking!!
