September 20, 2019 Greetings North Families, I will be sending out an email blast every other Friday with information about upcoming events, class info, Boosters info, etc. I hope you find this information useful. If at any time you want additional information, please refer to our school website. http://www.weschools.org/northhighschool_home.aspx Sincerely, Eric Frei Principal SUPPORT WE SCHOOLS Because of the cuts made by the State of Ohio, Willoughby-Eastlake will be placing an initiative on the ballot on November 5 th so that we can maintain the current programs offered to our students. These cuts, coupled with the fact that state funding to the district is capped, have created a tremendous financial shortfall, one that we cannot escape. The district has made more than a million dollars in cuts and will continue to make further cuts if we do not pass a levy. Please plan to attend an upcoming meeting to learn more about this critical issue and to have your questions answered. You can find the meeting schedule and other important facts here: www.Supportweschools.org North will host a Community Meeting next Wednesday, September 25 th at 7:00 PM in the Performing Arts Center. RANGER SHOUT OUTS! On Tuesday, September 17 th , 165 Rangers were recognized for demonstrating outstanding Attitudes Visible in School (AVIS) by teachers from last year. These students work hard every day, have positive attitudes, are kind and compassionate, and are always looking for ways to go above and beyond. This is our highest number of recipients ever! Congratulations to all!

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY APPLICATIONS Students who meet the GPA requirement (Juniors and Seniors with a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA) for eligibility to apply for membership in National Honor Society will be notified by letter in the next couple of weeks. An application will accompany the letter. This application consists of sections regarding leadership, service, and general school and outside of school involvement. There is also a short essay requiring applicants to write about what service they have done and what it meant to them. Students need to turn in completed applications to Miss Lipold in room 211. A list of applicants is then sent to the teaching staff who then rates each student’s character and leadership qualities. A committee then meets to consider each student’s overall credentials. New members are then notified of their acceptance and invited to attend the induction ceremony on October 28th at 6:30 in the Performing Arts Center. An agreement will also be signed by the student and a parent and turned into Miss Lipold. If there are any questions, you may email [email protected]. SEE ATTACHMENT
