Or, do you want to complete your Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, 1 st Holy Communion, Confirmation)? The process for doing this is called the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) and for Children (RCIC). Registration for both is now open and materials are being ordered. RCIC is also open to all children who are in 4 th grade and above who have not yet received the Sacrament of 1 st Holy Communion. Remember, your child must have participated fully in one year of Religious Education/ Faith Formation in order to enter into the GIFT Sacramental Preparation Program (for 2 nd and 3 rd grades only). Sunday Reflection As Ezekiel is appointed watchman over the house of Israel in today’s first Reading, so Jesus in the Gospel today establishes His disciples as guardians of the new Israel of God, the Church. He also puts in place procedures for dealing with sin and breaches of the faith, building on laws of discipline prescribed by Moses for Israel. The heads of the new Israel, however, receive extraordinary powerssimilar to those given to Peter. They have the power to bind and loose, to forgive sins and to reconcile sinners in His name. But the powers He gives the apostles and their successors depends on their communion with Him. As Ezekiel is only to teach what he hears God saying, the disciples are to gather in His name and to pray and seek the will of our heavenly Father. But today’s readings are more than a lesson in Church order. They also suggest how we’re to deal with those who trespass against us, a theme that we’ll hear in next week’s readings as well. Notice that both the Gospel and the First Reading presume that believers have a duty to correct sinners in our midst. Ezekiel is even told that he will be held accountable for their souls if he fails to speak out and try to correct them. This is the love that Paul in today’s Epistle says we owe to our neighbors. To love our neighbors as ourselves is to be vitally concerned for their salvation. We must make every effort, as Jesus says, to win our brothers and sisters back, to turn them from the false paths. We should never correct out of anger, or a desire to punish. Instead our message must be that of today’s Psalmurging sinners to hear God’s voice, not to harden their hearts, and to remember that He is the one who made us, and the rock of our salvation. Sunday Reflection

As Ezekiel is appointed watchman over the house of Israel in today’s first Reading, so Jesus in the Gospel today establishes His disciples as guardians of the new Israel of God, the Church. He also puts in place procedures for dealing with sin and breaches of the faith, building on laws of discipline prescribed by Moses for Israel. The heads of the new Israel, however, receive extraordinary powers—similar to those given to Peter.

What’s Happening at Our Parish...

LIVING ROSARY

Pax Christi will start a living rosary on Sunday, September 17th after the 10:30 a.m. Mass. The Rosary will continue each month on the 3rd Sunday.

Each person who joins will be assigned a specific mystery and intention for the following month and will pray one decade of the Rosary every day during that month. When we meet on the 3rd Sunday after the 10:30 Mass, we exchange prayer cards with the mysteries and intentions. You do not have to meet anyone daily, you pray individually any time of the day at your own convenience. While praying and meditating your assigned decade each day of every month, Our Blessed Mother Mary is leading you slowly to Her Son Jesus.

With completion of the 20 months, you will start over from the beginning, which is why it’s called Our Lady’s Living Rosary. Each group of 20 is called a rose. When it is your turn to pray the First Decade of each Mystery of the Rosary, you will also say the prayers that begin the Rosary: the Apostles Creed, the Our Father, three Hail Marys, a Glory Be, and the Fatima Prayer. When it is your turn to pray the Fifth Decade of each Mystery of the Rosary, you will say the ending prayer: Hail, Holy Queen.

If, however, you forget to pray your decade of the Rosary on a day, please pray it twice the following day. This way you will have completed the Rosary which was not completed the day before. If you have your own intentions, pray the decade again.

Contact Bernadette at [email protected] or 303-506-0917 if you wish to participate or have any questions.

This program has helped 10’s of 100’s of couples experiencing diffi-culties in their marriage.

For confidential information about or to register for the April program beginning with a weekend on November 3-5, 2017, call (720) 257-9106 or email: [email protected] or visit the website at www.HelpOurMarriage.com.

Ignatian Spiritual Exercises

Beginning September 20th, Deacon Tom will again be offering the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises here at Pax Christi. The exercis-es are designed for individuals interested in improving their prayer life and deepening their relationship with God.

The Spiritual Exercises grew out of Ignatius Loyola's personal experience as a lay person seeking to grow in union with God and to discern God's will. He eventually gathered these prayers, meditations, reflections and directions into a carefully designed framework which he called "spiritual exercises."

Individuals interested in more information should contact Deacon Tom at [email protected] for program details and to answer any questions.

Youth Ministry

Parish Ministries

Our Middle School group meets on Wednesdays from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. All 7th and 8th grade students are invited to attend. This group strives to form the youth as disciples of Jesus Christ, striving to glorify Him in relationships and situations in life. We form friendships in Christ through

fun games and fellowship. We deepen our faith and challenge each other through small group discussions. We encounter God through prayer and the Sacraments.

We strive to deepen our faith and incorporate it into our daily lives as disciples of Christ through engaging talks, small group discussions and prayer. Young men & women’s discipleship groups meet on Thursday nights from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. All high school aged young people are welcome!

Welcome to the Pax Christi Confirmation Program! The Sacrament of Confirmation is given to the baptized in order to more perfectly bind the Candidates to God through His Church. Through this Sacrament, your child will be enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit to be true witness-

es of Christ. Our entire Confirmation Preparation Program is structured in a way to encourage the candidates to not just go through the motions but to be open to the life changing power of the Holy Spirit as we saw in the apostles at Pentecost.

Also, please consider volunteering to be a small group leader for these classes! This is a great opportunity to get to know the teens of Pax Christi! With small groups of six-eight students, you have the opportunity to grow in community and truly be Christ to the teens of our community throughout the year! Please call or email Chenele for more information on training.

The Catholic Legacy Society was created to honor our legacy donors who have named their parish, Catholic school or a ministry of the Diocese of Colorado Springs as a beneficiary in their will or trust, retirement account, charitable gift annuity or charitable trust, life insurance policy, or through the establishment of an endowed fund.

The Diocese is grateful to acknowl-edge these special benefactors during their lifetimes. And, in conjunction with our mission, this special society provides an opportunity for benefac-tors to make their philanthropy a perpetual legacy for themselves and an example for their families. It also creates an infrastructure of support that makes our parishes, schools and ministries stronger, sustainable and better equipped to reach future generations.

If you have named your parish, a Catholic school or a ministry of the Diocese of Colorado Springs in your estate plan, or are considering doing so, we invite you to become a member of the Catholic Legacy Society.
