Literacy: Students will learn how to recount stories by telling the central message, lesson or moral of the story. They will be taught how to use examples from the text to support their central message, lesson, or moral. I will use this vocabulary when teaching this skill and I expect for the students to use the same vocabulary when they talk and when they write. Math: We are continuing our work with adding and subtracting 3 digit numbers using different strategies including place value (one, tens, hundreds). Writing: We are continuing to work on writing personal (true) narratives this week. Our lessons this week will teach the students how to turn their stories into writing that sounds like storytelling. They will also learn how to write different beginnings for the same story and then choose the one beginning they think grabs the readers attention the best. We will write new entries everyday and as always, students are thinking about what they are writing as they go. This helps them to correct mistakes they made both in writing and with punctuation. Celebration Corner Damarcus, Iyana, Caleb, Monta, Jordan, Mickali, and Qhamaine only need to turn in 2 more reading logs and they will get to eat lunch with Miss. Campbell. Promise only needs 3 more reading logs and she will get to eat lunch with Miss. Campbell. Ask your child if their behavior earned them a football last week! These footballs are given to 2 students at the end of each day who have shown excellent behavior and working skills!
