The Company
Officially launched in 2005 by Kody Bateman
Our two-fold mission 1. Help millions of people act on their promptings 2. Provide a vehicle for financial success
Why SendOutCards?
SendOutCards Founder and CEO Kody Bateman first formed a vision to help others act on their positive promptings after having the following experience –
After finishing college and accepting a job in New York City, Kody, his wife and young daughter got in the car and were ready to leave Salt Lake City to begin their new journey.
As they were about to begin their long drive, Kody spotted his brother Kris in a field next to his parents’ house. Kody had a strong feeling — a prompting — to get out of his car and give his big brother a hug goodbye. He ignored that prompting. Instead of saying goodbye, he honked the horn, waved, and headed off to the big city.
Kody passed up what turned out to be his last opportunity to connect with his brother. Kris died in an accident two months later and Kody learned a lesson he would never
WELCOME TO BASIC TRAINING
Welcome to the SendOutCards Basic Training.
We start off the training by doing 30 minutes of Product and System Training. We then do 90 minutes of Business-Building Training for our Independent and Marketing Dis-tributors. In this first session, you will learn about all the products available through SendOutCards, how to use the system, how to order products, and learn a few creative ways to use the products.

forget. He made a promise that he would always act on promptings and help others do the same. SendOutCards was formed from that simple promise, and now this inno-vative company helps thousands of people around the world act on their promptings every day.
Why Network Marketing?
Shortly before his death, Kris had a prompting — he needed life insurance. Kris started to look at different companies and eventually he found a friend who was selling term life insurance. His friend sat down in his living room and gave him a presentation for the A.L. Williams company, selling term life insurance through network marketing. This presentation would come to change both Kody’s and Kris’ lives forever.
Kris’ friend not only showed him the benefits of buying term life insurance and invest-ing the difference, but also presented him the opportunity to help others do the same — and get paid for it! Kris was so excited, not just to protect his family, but also at the opportunity to build a team of people from which he could earn residual income. “I remember seeing the light of hope in his eyes,” Kody said. “He had found a vehicle for financial success, and he was excited about it.”
In giving his first opportunity meeting, Kris first exposed Kody to network marketing. Kody and his wife Jodi immediately saw that network marketing could be their vehicle to financial independence.
SendOutCards provides that opportunity. “There is no greater gift on the planet that you can give anybody than the opportunity to create residual income — to create financial independence in their life,” Kody said.
Kody still focuses on showing others the numerous opportunities that Kris first showed to him, building SendOutCards to help others reach their goals. “Kris was never able to realize his dream because he died unexpectedly, but I do have that opportunity,” said Kody. “In fact, I have a responsibility to share it with the world. That is why we have a two-fold mission at SendOutCards. One is to help people act on their prompt-ings every day. Two is to provide people with a vehicle for financial success. We call that making a living through giving.”

SECTION IIBUSINESS BUILDING
12SENDOUTCARDS BASIC TRAINING
Congratulations on making the decision to start your very own business! Welcome to the SendOutCards team, and Business Building portion of the Basic Training Course. This course has been developed to help you, our new Distributors, become acquaint-ed with our simple, proven method of getting started in your business. During the next 90 minutes that you spend with your Certified Trainer, you will learn the basics in building a successful network marketing business in SendOutCards. We want to mini-mize the mistakes that naturally happen when a new person starts out in our business. We will be talking about and creating an active candidate list; learn what kind of third-party tools are available to you and how to invite someone to those tools with minimal objections and questions; how many exposures are necessary to get to a decision; how to get new Customers and Distributors started. We’ll give you an overview of how you get paid, and you will have a chance to create a game plan to launch your new busi-ness.

“Do you have a minute? I need a little favor from you. I would like to run something by you. Are you by your computer by any chance?I don’t have a lot of time, but what I would like to do is run a short three-minute video by you and get your reaction. If you like it, which I think you will, I would like to ask you to be my customer. It costs about fifteen dollars. I’d like you to watch the video first, get your reaction, and we’ll go from there. So, do you have about three minutes right now?Go to www.sendoutcards.com/Your ID #, go ahead and turn your speakers up and watch the video that’s there and I will talk to you afterthe video. Pretty cool, huh? Could you see yourself using a product like that? What I would like to do is set you up to try SendOutCards. It cost about fifteen dollars, its $9.80 per month and for the first month you will need to add $5 in postage. I will show you how to use it. It would really help me out if you would be one of my customers. If you have two minutes now, I can get you set up. Would that be all right? All I need to do is get a little information and I can get your account set up for you.”

If you start every call or face-to-face conversation with the feeling that you are in a hurry, you will find your invitations are shorter, there will be fewer questions, and people will respect you and your time much more.
“I don’t have a lot of time to talk, but I had to get a hold of you.”

The sincere compliment (and it needs to be sincere) opens the door to real communi- cation and people will be more open to hear what you have to say.
“You’ve been wildly successful and I’ve always respected the way you’ve done business.”

Make the Invitation
As you become a network marketing professional, you’re going to find that you use an indirect approach more often than a direct approach.
“A friend told me the best thing I could do when starting a business is to have peo- ple I re spect take a look at it and give me some guidance. Would you be willing to do that for me if I made it simple?”
“Who do you know that might be looking for a strong business they could run from their home?”
“I work with a company that’s expanding in our area and I’m looking for some sharp people who might be interested in some additional cash flow. Do you know anyone who might fit that description?”

“If I gave you a link to an online presentation that explained everything, would you click on it and watch it?”

9 Key Points Every Distributor Should Know
In order to help you understand and adhere to SendOutCards’ Policies and Procedures, and to help you present the SendOutCards Business Opportunity fairly and accurately to your prospects, we have compiled a list of important facts that every SendOutCards ID and MD should know: 1. The Certified Trainer position gives you the opportunity to earn $40 each time a SendOutCards Distributor is trained by a Certified Trainer. There is no other commis-sion structure for a Certified Trainer. However, the only way to become a Certified Trainer and earn training bonuses is by placing three (3) new Senior Distributors on your first level within the first 30 days of becoming a distributor, attending a CT Course and submitting the proper invoice.
2. The SendOutCards Independent Distributor position has no initial fee, cost or invest-ment, only a refundable deposit. In some states, as listed in the Independent Distribu-tor Application and Agreement, the deposit is not required. 3. All Independent Distributors may purchase the optional Marketing Distributor Package, consisting of training and various important administrative services.Independent Distributors, whether or not they have purchased the optional Marketing Distributor Package, receive the same commissions and bonuses. 4. A new Distributor’s consideration of making the optional purchase of the Market-ing Distributor Package is strongly recommended. Earning statistics consistently dem-onstrate that SendOutCards Distributors who have purchased the optional Marketing Distributor Package earn, on average, three times the monthly income of those Inde-pendent Distributors who have not received the training available through the Market-ing Distributor Package.
5. Providing prospective Distributors with copies of checks or statements of income earned by another SendOutCards Distributor, and the use of any charts or income pro-jections, is strictly prohibited by SendOutCards Policies and Procedures and is binding upon all SendOutCards Independent Distributors. Only SendOutCards published, com-mission payout figures included with every SendOutCards Distributor Sales Kit may be utilized in discussions with prospective SendOutCards Independent Distributors.
SECTION II : Business Bui lding
SENDOUTCARDS BASIC TRAINING47
6. SendOutCards offers online greeting card and gift services as well as photo prod-ucts found in the Photo Store, throughout the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, U.K. and Singapore (or any countries added since the printing of this manual). SendOutCards has licensed as a corporation and with various state public commissions in all states where required to do so. Not every state requires SendOut-Cards to maintain a corporate license or to be licensed to provide services. 7. As a SendOutCards Distributor, you may only utilize literature and sales aids provid-ed by SendOutCards. You should presume that any other literature and sales aids that you have obtained or which may become available to you are not approved for your use. To utilize non-SendOutCards literature and sales aids is a violation of SendOut-Cards Policies and Procedures and may result in your termination as a SendOutCards Distributor. 8. Paying for your customers without their consent (“slam”) is strictly prohibited. If you buy in or pay for a customer, you will be terminated as a Distributor. In addition, Send-OutCards will seek to recover any fines levied on SendOutCards for such activity from IDs who slam.
Buying Customers is Prohibited
4.3 - Bonus Buying ProhibitedBonus buying is strictly and absolutely prohibited. Bonus buying includes: (a) the en-rollment of individuals or entities without the knowledge of and/or execution of an Independent Distributor Application and Agreement by such individuals or entities; (b) the fraudulent enrollment of an individual or entity as a Distributor or Customer; (c) the enrollment or attempted enrollment of non-existent individuals or entities as Indepen-dent distributors or Customers (phantoms); (d) the use of a credit card by or on behalf of a Distributor or Customer when the Distributor or Customer is not the account hold-er of such credit card; (e) Purchasing SendOutCards merchandise or services on behalf of another Distributor or Customer, or under another Distributor’s or Customer’s I.D. number, to qualify for commissions or bonuses.
9. There are only two commissionable events for SendOutCards Independent Distribu-tors: The obtaining of new SendOutCards customers, and customer SOC Products and Services usage. Neither the sponsoring of a new SendOutCards Independent Distribu-tor nor the purchase of the optional Marketing Distributor Package results in commis-sions or bonuses being paid.

Bus 90 For Life
- Celeste Casey
“SendOutCards really changed my life – if I wasn’t do-ing it for a business, I would still be doing it every day anyway,” says Celeste Casey. T.C. has been her best friend since she was four years old. T.C.’s grandpa Gary recently passed away. T.C. and Celeste’s families have been incredibly close for as long as she can remem-ber. Gary was even their bus driver from kindergarten through high school!
Not long after Gary died, Celeste was lying in bed thinking of T.C. and her family, when she felt a prompt-ing. Her heart started pounding. Celeste realized it was 11:40 p.m., and she wanted to send a card. She had just 20 minutes to get a card sent out before the SendOutCards deadline of midnight for the next day’s cards. Celeste jumped out of bed and rushed to her computer. She put together a beautiful heartfelt card, complete with a picture of Gary and a bus, #90 – Gary’s bus number.
A few days later, Celeste received an email from T.C. The day her card arrived, T.C. had just picked up her mother and grandmother, Gary’s wife, from the airport.
“That card changed three lives at one time,” Celeste said. “It meant so much to those women. That sealed the deal for me. I will never, ever ignore another prompting to get up and send a card.”
SECTION II I : Real Stories
SENDOUTCARDS BASIC TRAINING55
It Started With a Movie
- Dennis Ward
Dennis Ward’s initial motivation for building a SendOutCards business was simply to make enough money to spoil his grandchildren a bit. “Three years ago, when I first started with Send-OutCards, I got my first commission check. I thought, ‘This is a great business!’ Even if all I could ever make was enough money to takemy grandkids to the movies each month and spoil them with popcorn and candy, this would be an awesome business.” So he cashed his commission check, and used it to take four of his grandchil-dren to the movies.
A few months went by, and he found that not only could he take the grandkids to the movies, he could also make a car payment with his check from SendOutCards. A few months later, he discovered he could take the grandkids to the movies, make his car payment, and also pay his mortgage.
“A couple of months later, I got a text from Burke Christensen, congratulating me on a $600 day. Naturally I asked, ‘What happened?’ He told me they brought four people in that day. My first thought was to feel a little guilty because I wasn’t there to ‘earn’ that money. However, my second thought reassured me: That’s how it’s sup-posed to be. I’m supposed to bring people in, they bring people in, and I get paid. That’s my story with SendOutCards, and that’s what works for me.”

Ben Fitts has a SendOutCards story that begins like most: He was married, had a full-time job, and had another part-time home business. “I never intended to do SendOutCards as an actual business,” Ben said. “I saw it as a way to grow my other business.” Originally, it was a quick, easy, and cost-effective way to get more referrals and repeat sales.
“Then a funny thing happened,” Ben said. “A young lady named Diane Walker received a birthday card from me. We had been working together in my other busi-ness, become trainers, and exchanged birthdays and addresses with one another. I started sending birthday cards to her to show my appreciation for all she did. At the time, the only gifts SendOutCards had were $25 gift cards that included 20 points and enough postage to send 10 cards. That’s what I sent Diane and everyone else I was sending birthday cards to. When Diane received my card she called and asked, ‘What are you trying to recruit me into?’ I don’t remember my exact answer but it was something along the line of, “Nothing, don’t worry about it. I just wanted to send you a birthday card.”
Six weeks later Ben got another call from Diane. She said it was eatingaway at her that Ben had spent $25 on a gift for her, so she used it to see what Send-OutCards was all about.

“She told me that as soon as she logged onto SendOutCards, she immediatelyfell in love with it. She noticed there was an opportunity associated with it, and was naturally curious,” Ben said.
Diane’s curiosity had piqued Ben’s as well and he decided to start working his own SendOutCards business in earnest. It turned out to be a great move, as his old busi-ness shut down shortly thereafter.
“SendOutCards has impacted my life in so many positive ways,” Ben said. “It has helped me grow personally from attending the seminars and conventions. I’ve met some of the best people in the world, read awesome books from the SendOutCards online selection, and I’ve had the opportunity to share our cards with all types of peo-ple. In my seven years with SendOutCards, many things have changed in my life, but SendOutCards has been there the whole time. I don’t know where I would be today if not for SendOutCards.
“I truly live a life of freedom, I don’t have to set an alarm clock and I don’t hate going to work. I have the freedom to choose where and when I work. How many other peo-ple have that flexibility? This is why, to me, SendOutCards truly means freedom.”

From Homeless to Hope
- Tim & Nicole Mancuso
Joining the SendOutCards family was a once, twice, third time’s the charm for the Mancuso family. In the beginning, Tim showed the SendOutCards opportunity to his wife Nicole. Tim had been laid off three times, but had just landed a great new job, so Nicole was less than enthusi-astic about him spending time on work-ing a SendOutCards business.
“I wanted him to focus on the new job while I homeschooled our children,”Nicole said. A deeply religious family, the couple prayed about it and felt prompted to go ahead with the business opportunity. So in November 2008 they spent the last of their savings to join SendOutCards. In one month’s time, Tim was laid off. Although the couple had reached the rank of Senior Manager, they lost their home and had to move in with friends. Tim soon found another job, but it took the focus off building their SendOutCards business.

“In November of 2009 I was picking up some Thanksgiving food a friend was kind enough to give us and found myself pleading with God, ‘HELP US!’ I was met with a strange feeling,” Nicole said. “It felt like we had already been given the answer.”
Tim was laid off again in January. This time, though, the couple took the time and energy to refocus on their SendOutCards business, and ended up winning the trip to Cancun in April 2010. “Every good thing led to another,” Nicole said. “A year after we officially became homeless, we found ourselves moving into our own home.”
Despite their success in SendOutCards, their friends and family kept encouraging the couple to find a “real job,” temporarily once again distracting them from their focus on SendOutCards.
“We won the trip in 2011 to Florida,” Nicole said. “It was there that we both felt clear direction to focus on our business first and foremost, and we have been full-time with SendOutCards from that time. We still have a lot to do. But now we have a vision and hope for our future. We look forward to helping others find freedom and share the hope we have found, through God and SendOutCards, for their own futures. We willbe Eagles in SendOutCards — we will be free!”
