WINTER CAS SPORT – ROUND 1 & 2 RESULTS It was unfortunate that Lake Joondalup were not able to field Teams in Round 1; however, this does mean all Teams had a positive start in relation to their goal differential as scores are recorded at the maximum allowable points margin.

Last week against Prendiville the Year 10A Girls Netball Team won, continuing their unbeaten run from the SSWA Netball Carnival the week earlier. As a result, they will qualify to the SSWA Knock Out rounds in the Middle Division. The Senior Netball Team unfortunately lost. The Senior Soccer Girls had a dominant performance winning comfortably 7-0 with the ‘Mercy Rule’ being enforced. Against a well organised Prendiville side the Senior Boys Soccer Team notched a 0-0 draw, often coming close to scoring toward the end.

The Year 7A Netball Team exhibited a cohesive and dominant display in a convincing win in their first match. Pleasingly, the 7B Netball Team also won their first match by a single goal. The Year 8A Netball Team was unbeaten in the SSWA Netball Carnival meaning they will qualify to the Knock Out rounds in the Lower Division; they also won comfortably in their CAS fixture. The Year 9A Netball Team played very well at the SSWA Netball Carnival winning a number of their matches against girls who were a year older than them in the Middle Division, and we will have to wait to see if they qualified for the Knock Out rounds. The Year 7 Girls Soccer Team won with some excellent performances. Hannah Kettle starred with a hat trick on debut and had an unmatched work ethic running all over the ground. Her second half goal was superb as she headed in a high ball near the goals whilst also crashing into the keeper at the same time. Isabelle Morrell, Madison Kingston and Rachel Hunt contributed effectively whilst Sarah Richards also scored a goal. The Year 7 Boys Soccer Team were losing with five minute to go and pushed forward for the draw, unfortunately conceding a couple of goals on the break. Luca Manganaro (G/K) was best on ground. The Year 7 Boys Basketball Team had a close contest, eventually holing their lead with Ethan Mellor and Jake Califano performing well. The Junior Boys Soccer Team came from a goal behind to win, whilst a rare own goal in the first half for the Junior Girls resulted in a drawn game. In their first match, the Year 7 Boys Australian Football Team had a hard encounter. In difficult windy conditions Prendiville played very well kicking with the breeze and dominated the first half, not allowing us to score. If it wasn't for Emerson Saxon's desperate efforts, it could have been a greater margin. The second half was much better with everyone displaying more commitment and hard effort towards the ball. This time Emerson Saxon popped up in the forward line and kicked three goals. Joshua Tasmer was excellent playing ruck and to kicking the ball long. Finn Nichols fought hard all match and Morgan McBain fought valiantly in defence and was rewarded with a many free kicks for excellent tackles. Jack Fenwick and Daniel Ashby also kicked goals. Good luck next week boys.

Australian Football Team Listing – Junior Boys

Having been selected the week before (the confirmed Team listing is alongside) the Junior Boys Australian Football Team played well in their first game. Winning at half time by a couple of goals, the Year 8s grew in confidence as the match continued, although the were not able to secure a victory the team look forward to their next match.
