INSET on incorporating global justice across the 11-14 curriculum People of God: Called to Serve (new framework for 11-14 RE)

CAFOD is writing resources to support People of God: Called to Serve, which is the new Secondary Religious Education framework for 11-14 year olds. Global justice, Catholic Social Teaching and learning about and from the Universal Church is integrated throughout the framework.

We also provide INSET for RE departments on how to incorporate global justice and Catholic Social Teaching across the 11-14 curriculum. Our resources can also be used to supplement other programmes of study, and/or integrated into your current RE curriculum.

The aims of the INSET are:

l to know and understand how global justice and Catholic Social Teaching are embedded across the new framework;

l to be familiar with the CAFOD resources that support the new framework, People of God: Called to Serve.

CAFOD INSET on People of God: Called to Serve will:

l introduce the process of using the framework;

l cover the global justice learning journey of students between the ages of 11 and 14;

l unpack some of our new resources, in particular exploring a CAFOD-written unit on Catholic Social Teaching;

l provide an opportunity for RE teachers in departments to ask questions about the framework and our resources.

The training session is planned to take three hours. It can be adapted to further fit departmental or school needs – for example, it could take place as part of a whole school Catholic Ethos INSET day, with an introduction to Catholic Social Teaching in the morning and departmental time in the afternoon.

Donations towards the cost of running this event are appreciated.
