Eilean Donan Castle

Scotland has many beautiful castles. But this one is right out of a fairytale.

Situated by the picturesque village of Dornie on the main tourist route to the Isle of Skye.The mouth of Loch Long is within walking distance of the castle.

The object is not the distance of the throw, but rather to have the caber fall directly awayfrom the thrower after landing. So its more about control than raw power.

This is Scotlands national flower. Now, how may you ask, does such a thorny customer

become a national flower. Well as the story goes some Viking invaders where sneakingup on a Scottish war camp, looking to kill the Scots in their sleep. They walked into a

patch of Thistles and the noise woke the Scots from their sleep, who where able to fight

them off.

4. NORTHERN IRELAND

is the smallest of the four major national divisions.

It is located on the island ofIreland and the Republic of Ireland is

also found in the island.

St Patrickis the patron saint.

It is often called Ulster, which was the name of a large province of

Ireland until 1920, when Northern Ireland was separated from the rest

Armagh comes from the Irish word, "Ard Macha" (Macha'sHeight), which alludes to Queen Macha, who supposedly built a

fortress on top of a hill. Armagh is also popularly known as "the

Orchard County" because of its success in the growth of Bramley

The Giant's Causeway is an area of 40,000 interlocking

basalt columns resulting from a volcanic eruption.

Londonderry/Derry

The name of the city was originally Derry, but was changedto Londonderry during the Plantation of Ulster as the new

city was built by London guilds.

The most visibly striking historic feature of the city is the

historic walls. It is the only remaining completely walled

city in Ireland and one of the finest examples of walled

cities in Europe and they have been kept in a splendid state

of preservation.

The Ulster American Folk Park

The Ulster American Folk Parkis one of the most popular

attractions in Northern Ireland. This open-air museum in

Tyron was established in 1976 as Northern Ireland's

contribution to the American bicentenary.

The museum tells the story of emigration from Ulster to the

United States in the 18th and 19th centuries and provides

visitors with a "living history" experience on its outdoor

site. Costumed demonstrators go about their everyday tasks

in the traditional manner in authentically furnished Old andNew World buildings.
