An open letter to Parents - the need for Quality Education at the World’s Best Universities

Dear Parents,

You all want your child to succeed in life. One of the key reasons you seek the best quality college education for your child is to ensure that he/she gets a head start in their professional careers.

Thinking through the prism of what existed when you went to college may result in an incomplete understanding of the opportunities and challenges your child may confront. Today, children need to imbibe skills required to succeed in a rapidly changing world. Even for your child, the world is changing significantly in two ways – the requirements of a good quality education and the skills required for professional success.

Mr. Jim Yong Kim, President - World Bank, says that “the proportion of jobs threatened by automation in India is 69%”. According to the World Economic Forum, cloud computing, big data, robots and Artificial Intelligence will cause the biggest changes in the job market.

However, jobs that involve a high degree of creativity, analytical thinking or interpersonal communication will continue to be in demand. According to the Business Standard, “... new jobs will require creative intelligence, social and emotional intelligence and ability to leverage artificial intelligence.”

Unfortunately, the higher education system in India has not modernized its curriculum and facilities to reflect the requirements of the new generation. The World Economic Forum has already declared that we stand on the cusp of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Our children will be buffeted with changes at an unprecedented level. In such a scenario, investment in college education has to be planned after careful thinking.

The vital question that you need to ask as a parent is - “Will the college education that my child receives in India ensure that he/she imbibes the skills required for success in a rapidly changing world?” If the value of higher education in India is found lacking, then we would encourage you to look overseas.

To assist in your decision making, we bring you the USA UnivQuest Scholarships. For your child, the Scholarships could be the MASTerSTroke - the Brahmastra for the Best education in the World. Give your child the chance to secure a 100% scholarship for studying at Top ranked Universities in the USA.

Let your child thank you for making the right choice. Happy Parenting !
