Sir Samuel Griffith Scholarships

Important points for applying:

• Provide a well written personal statement;

This is an opportunity for students to sell themselves and talk about their career goals, their passions for study and their career and their extra curricular involvement during school and outside of school.

Do not just focus on why the students want to study at Griffith University

• Ensure a referee report is submitted;

Applications will not be considered without a referee report supplied

• Address leadership and community engagement criteria,

• Have a variety of preference options listed through QTAC.



Equity Scholarships

Uni-Start Admission and Scholarship Scheme2011 school-leavers and non school-leavers who have experienced financial hardship and/or educational disadvantage

Applications open Monday 8 August 2011 and close Friday 18 November 2011

• Consideration for admission to Griffith University, providing bonus OPs/Ranks• Consideration for a Chancellor’s Scholarship and other equity scholarships• Additional access and transition support

Important points for applying• Ensure that students submit any supporting documentation (centrelink documentation, bank

statements, doctors certificates etc) at the time of their application process.

Safety net• Track and Monitor students• To identify circumstance that may not be identified• Links to QTAC’s ‘special consideration’



Sports Scholarships• Sports Scholarships – valued at $5,000 per year for up to 4 years, aimed at students who

are at the top of their sport (typically National level or higher)

All successful recipients of Griffith University Sports and Development Scholarships are automatically members of the Griffith Sports College, which aims to assist elite athletes in sourcing flexible study means to enable them to continue performing at optimum level whilst studying.



Study Area specificStudents should also be encouraged to check the study area specific scholarships available for year 12 school leavers in the following disciplines;

• Business• Education• Engineering and Information Technology• Environment, Planning and Architecture• Health• Humanities, Languages and Criminology• Law• Music• Science• Visual and Creative Arts



Commonwealth Scholarships administered through Centrelink

Student are eligible if they are receiving one of the following Centrelink benefits;• Youth Allowance• ABSTUDY• Austudy• Assisted under Veteran schemes

Scholarships available• Student Start-Up Scholarship (valued at $1097 per semester for 2011, indexed each year)• Relocation Scholarship(valued at $4,000 for students first year of eligibility and $1000 for

consecutive years)
