A Message from our Pastor I hope everyone has a great start to the week! I know y’all will enjoy having Fr Sal back on Sunday and ge ng to meet Fr Ted, also—may it calm some of your grumbling that you’re not ge ng fed by me! I am sorry for my failures; I will work harder to be a be er preacher and leader. But, if something is missing in our community’s life- something that will feed you- what are you doing about it, besides grumbling? Is this a test from the Lord? Thank you, everyone who came to and helped with our celebra on of the Virgin on Saturday. It was another great me! Mary, in all her appari ons and miracles, just like in her earthly life, does one thing- she points the way to her Son and makes it easier for people to accept Him. "This is the work of God, that you believe in the one he sent." It’s true for Mary and it must be true for us!

Life is a constant call to repentance and conversion- for me and for all our world, to “put away the old self of your former way of life, corrupted through decei ul desires, and be renewed in the spirit of your minds.” Please pray over this, not just as we look at another year of Faith Forma on (welcome, Fidel!) but as we look at everything we want from and for our community. May it help us to believe that Jesus is “the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst."

Dcn Rick is ge ng ready for his last year in seminary. Please thank him for all he con nues to do for us and pray for him!

Un Mensaje de Nuestro Pastor ¡Espero que la semana comienze bien para todos!

Disfruten la oportunidad de celebrar con el P. Salvador y de conocer al Padre Ted, también, ¡espero que calme sus quejas de que no les alimento! Lo siento por mis fallas; Trabajaré más duro para ser un mejor predicador y líder. Pero, sí algo falta en la vida de nuestra comunidad, algo que la alimentará, ¿qué estámos haciendo al respecto, además de gruñir? ¿Es esto una prueba del Señor?

Gracias, a todos los que vinieron y ayudaron con nuestra celebración de la Virgen el Sábado. ¡Fue otro gran momento! María, en todas sus apariciones y milagros, al igual que en su vida terrenal, hace una sola cosa: señala el camino hacia su Hijo y facilita que la gente lo acepte. "Esta es la obra de Dios, que creas en el que él envió". ¡Es cierto para Maria y debe ser cierto para nosotros tambien!

La vida es un llamado constante al arrepen miento y la conversión, para mí y para todo nuestro mundo, para "apartar al viejo yo de tu an gua forma de vida, corrompido por deseos engañosos, y ser renovados en el espíritu de sus mentes". Por favor, oren sobre esto, no solo cuando iniciamos otro año de For-mación de Fe (¡bienvenido a Fidel!) sino que vemos todo lo que queremos de y para nuestra comunidad. Que nos ayuden a creer que Jesús es "el pan de la vida; el que viene a mí nunca tendrá hambre, y el que cree en mí nunca tendrá sed ".

Los Servidores del Señor y la Virgen de Matará www.servidoras.org or www.ssvmmissions.org ), instituto misionero de hermanas religiosas, están complacidos por haber recibido la oportunidad de hacer un llamado a la comunidad de San Patricio durante las Misas del fin de semana del 4 y 5 de Agosto. Desde nuestros comienzos en San Rafael, Argentina en 1988 hemos crecido a más de 1200

hermanas misioneras en casi 40 países diferentes a través del mundo. Nos esforzamos para ir a lugares donde la presencia de hermanas religiosas es más necesaria. Aún cuando somos una comunidad internacional, hemos sido bendecidas con muchas vocaciones de los Estados Unidos un poco más de 100 actualmente. Este llamado nos permite informar a los miembros de su parroquia sobre nuestra mision en Egipto. Como se podrán imaginar, nuestras misiones en lugares como Egipto necesitan de mucho apoyo. Las hermanas trabajan en varias casas, para proveer educación para los niños, jóvenes y jovencitas. Además tienen una casa para niñas con necesidades especiales. Ya que la mayoría de las niñas vienes de familias pobres, las hermanas también cuidan de sus familias brindandoles asistencia. Como ya lo sabrán, la situación económica en Egipto no es estable actualmente. Por esta razón los misioneros no reciben mucha ayuda de parte de los locales ya que por la mayor parte, ellos mismos carecen de las necesidades básicas. Gracias, Padre Hawxhurst, por darnos esta oportunidad de hablar en San Patricio y compartir con ustedes sobre nuestra misión en Egipto. Ya que diariamente luchamos para ayudar a los necesitados, estamos muy agradecidos con todos ustedes por sus oraciones, contribuciones y generosidad, es verdaderamente una gracia de Dios y consolación para nuestras hermanas misioneras. Nosotros también estaremos orando por ustedes!

The Servants of the Lord and the Virgin of Matará (www.servidoras.org or www.ssvmmissions.org ), a missionary Institute of religious sisters, are happy to be given the opportunity to speak at Saint Patrick for the mission appeal on August 4/5. From our beginnings in San Rafael, Argentina in 1988 we have grown to over 1200 sisters missioning in almost 40 different countries

throughout the world. We strive to go where the presence of religious sisters is most needed. Although we are an international community, we have been blessed with many vocations from the United States a bit over 100 at present. This appeal allows us to inform the members of your parish about our mission work in Egypt. As you may imagine, our missions in places like Egypt are in great need of support. The sisters work in several houses, providing education for children, teenagers, and young women. They also have a home for girls with special needs. Since most of the girls come from poor families, the sisters also take care of the families by giving them some assistance. As you may know, Egypt is not economically stable at present. For this reason missionaries do not receive much help from the local people who very often themselves lack even basic necessities. Thank you, Father Hawxhurst, for giving us this opportunity to speak at Saint Patrick and share with you about our mission in Egypt. As we daily strive to help those in need, we are most grateful to all of you for your prayers, contributions and generosity, truly a grace from God and a consolation for our missionary sisters. Please be assured of our prayers for all of you as well!

Please arrive at least 20 minutes early. Estimated duration of session is 3 hours This session will be held in English Space is limited to 50 persons. We would like to welcome our new Director of Faith Formation, Fidel Valenzuela!

Fidel was born into a family of three sisters in Los Angeles County. His mother is a national sales manager and his father is a former Marine. He recently moved to Houston and plans to get married next year to his fiancée, Janisse Flores. Ever since reconverting to the Catholic Church in 2011, he has dedicated his life to bringing others closer to God. He has evangelized families throughout neighborhoods within Legion of Mary, led faith seminars and Bible studies within parishes, catechized within RCIA and Confirmation programs, and counseled relatives and friends back into communion with God. He has an A.A. in Philosophy and a B.A. in Theology. He is also an Eagle Scout in Boy Scouts of America and a Ranger in Venture Crew of America.

Agosto después de cada Misa comenzando a las 8:30am y terminado a las 2:00 pm en el Salon Parroquial. Tambien habra registraciones de Lunes a Viernes de 9am a 3pm en la Oficina de la Parroquia. Si usted tiene un hijo/hija que va para su segundo año con nosotros y se está preparando para ser un sacramento, favor de traer su certificado de Bautismo con usted para registrar a sus hijos. Si no puede venir durante nuestras horas de registración favor de hablar a nuestra oficina con Melita al (713) 697-4325 ella trabajará con ustedes para estar en la oficina a la hora que puedan venir a registrar a su hijo/hijos.

The Faith Formation office will be regitering for children’s Faith Formation and Sacrament classes every Sunday in the month of August after every Mass starting at 8:30am and ending at 2 pm in the Parish Hall. There

will also be registrations Monday through Friday from 9 am to 3 pm in the Parish Office. If you have second year student prepar ing for a sacrament please br ing a baptismal certificate to register your child for sacrament class. If you cannot come during our hours of registration, please give Melita a call at (713)697-4325 and she will be happy to meet with you to get your child/children registered.

On Thursday, Aug. 9th, seminarian, Deacon David Michael Moses will be performing the 6th Annual Concert for Life. Not only is it free, but thanks to generous underwriters, $58 will automatically be donated to Houston Pregnancy Help Centers for each person who attends.
