SBW detached Solutionused by Channel Partners and HPE internal as portable Solution
– SBW Configurator and Quoter– SBW is a Configuration and Quotation Tool for Enterprise Servers, Storage Products, Software and Workstations. – SBW can be also used for Complex Configuration Solutions in a combination of the whole Product Portfolio. – The Configurator is rule-based on a Knowledge Base provided by the worldwide Business Units, and which is – updated once a week (User is forced to download KB File via update manager). The SBW Quoter is part – of the Configuration and Quote downstream process, and can provide various outputs for End Customer and Channel Partners. – SBW is developed as a detached application.
– SBW-Quoter is used for quoting with a Pricebook updated weekly = 1st of a Month and each Monday– (User is forced to download Price Files). Price File includes for Partners with a Contract a Discount file.– Important:– SBW use is mandatory. SBW is the principle HPE tool for creating budgetary quotes for your customers
4
When do I use SBW Configurator?1. To begin building your quote, first launch SBW Configurator 2. The Configurator is used to design and configure the solution before you
apply pricing and discounts to your quote3. Allows you to add / delete / modify SKUs and quantity for Software,
Hardware, Support, Training or Services4. When you have all line items in the Configurator whiteboard, you then
convert the configuration in the SBW Quoter5. Configuration can be saved in .wwb File format
5
When do I use the SBW Quoter?
6
1. The SBW Quoter allows for modifications to discount pricing of line items by percentage amounts
2. You will associate an Account and Contact to the Quote
3. From SBW Quoter you can create different file formates: – a *.pdf file (Budgetary Estimate) for your Customer– The *.sdd file that you will forward to the CSR to create the legal quote– The *.xml Eclipse loading file for an OPG request

Examples Line Items Color Coding
SBW Quoter – Files and Formats
94
•SBW has a Configurator & a Quoter. Both programs can be opened and used also as standalone. •We will explain, why it is useful and necessary to use both programs together to avoid:
•re-work time on Configurations and Quotes•Use the latest rules from the Knowledge Base (KB)•Getting the right Product Portfolio also for Complex Solutions incl. Support•Be able to make requested changes by the End-Customer in Minutes•Be in sync with all end2end processes not only within HPE‘s special Pricing or Order Entry process
Configurations, which have not been built in the SBW Configurator might cause issue either at order entry time or will even prevent start of production (e.g. if an xml file based on Configurator data is needed).
SBW Quoter – Files and Formats
95
SBW Configurator = WWB File formatdoes have Configuration Rules
SBW Quoter = SDD File formatdoes NOT have own Configuration Rules
SBW Configuration & Quote creation process 1/3
96
1. Open SBW Configurator2. Create a Whiteboard and select all relevant Products (Save As File in *.WWB format )3. Convert Whiteboard to a Quote4. Save the Quote and export the contents (Save As File in *.SDD format )
If a User follows the four steps above, the SDD File is a Two in One File and does not only contain Quoter contents the File does also contain the complete Configuration rules. The user is able to load the SDD file direct in the Quoter or Configurator while using the Funtionality
This Funtionality is only valid, if the user has not manipulated the contents in the Quoter! It is easy to identify manual changes. All changes are shown in blue color. See some examples:
SBW Configuration & Quote creation process 2/3
97
When deleting a Product in SBW Quoter, we will warn the User with the following Message:
There is no Auditlog in SBW to see deleted Line Items. The only way to get all manual changes recovered in SBW is to go back to the Configurator and make here thenecessary changes:e.g. Qty updates, select a new Component or remove a Component. The Configurator rules does ensure, that the contents is always rule profen and selecting e.g. the right Product-Portfolio of support Products. This process may take some time, but it ensures that the Configurations are fitting the complete end2end process.
SBW Configuration & Quote creation process 3/3
98
When Convert Whiteboard to a Quote again, the Quote will provide the User with the following Message:
YES = you will keep your manual updates done in the Quoter, but you don‘t Convert your changes done in the Configurator to the QuoterNO = You will convert the updates done in the Configurator to the Quoter and all manual overrides are updated including that the Component deletion is recovered.Note: Manual added Components at the end of a quote, e.g. Cabel, filler panels or other not rule driven components needs to be entered again after the conversion process.

Here are some detailed information regarding File handling Watson/SBW.
Case 1. wwb files are created in Watson or SBW have the contents of all Whiteboard info Whiteboard Icons sequence and positioning Config contents of each Icon BOM override if done in the Configurator (special
function) System Diagram contents Details for Visio export if requested
Case 2. sdd files standalone User is creating a new Quote
o Type a PN number in oro importing data while using Copy&Paste
all end2end functions and pricing can be used
Case 3. sdd files for standard configs from Configurator, but with a BOM override in the Quoter User transfers a Whiteboard in a Quote made some manual BOM list adjustments
o Deleting a Lineo add a lineo change Qtyo change PN number‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐and save Quote File as sdd file.
Case 4. sdd files for standard configs from Configurator No manipulations User transfers a Whiteboard in a Quote no manipulations
When receiving the files:We know it is best practice from Users, when receiving files e.g. in outlook to click on the filesto open in the various applications.
Per design Watson and SBW will handle as follows: click on a wwb (Whiteboard) file Configurator will be
opened (Valid for Case 1.) click on a sdd (Quote/Config) file Configurator will be
opened (Valid for Cases 3. + 4.) Case 2. will end up with on error
File open process, when you have the various files on your desktop: open Configurator
o file open from local file wwb = open Case 1.o file open from local file sdd = open Case 3.
Transfer to the Quoter will ask you for the discard of your manipulations
o file open from local file sdd = open Case 4. open Quoter
o file open from local file sdd = open Case 2.o file open from local file sdd = open Case 3.o file open from local file sdd = open Case 4.
If you open Case 3. + 4. there is a function in the Quoter, which allows the User to switch backto the Configurator. “View Whiteboard”.
