Canada and playing in the Paralympics. Since then he has travelled the world, inspired thousands of people, and has published his biography titled "Still Standing - When You Have Every Reason To Give Up, Keep Going". Kevin’s story has been featured around the world on TSN, BBC Sport, and CTV. Kevin is an ambassador for RBC’s, Wings For Life, and Movember. 9:15–10:15 am Choose OneWorkplace Violence and Harassment: Beyond Bill 132 and 168Chris Lloyd, Partner, Daniels Lloyd LLP

We have all heard about Bill 132 and 168, but now what? Ministry of Labour inspectors have powers that can be exercised in respect of workplace harassment. Employers are likely to face challenges in managing these new requirements and powers as they can give rise to some complex and thorny issues. This session will provide assistance to employers in understanding compliance expectations and managing the impact of the new requirements and expanded powers of the Ministry of Labour.

Going Beyond the Traditional Safety ToolboxJorge Mitre, P.Eng., APEGGA, Industrial Director, Tenaris

Workplace dynamics and complexity are growing continuously, bringing new challenges to the companies and employees every day. Traditional approaches based on training, signing, etc. are extensively in use, but bringing only marginal improvements. The industry’s commitment to permanently increase safety performance requires us to look for more complex and sophisticated tools. In looking at the late findings in behavior economics, we can see the limitations of our traditional approach as well as find new opportunities to enrich our toolbox and become more efficient in designing safer work environments.

Effective and Efficient Workplace InspectionsLouise Caicco Tett, MPH, B.Sc., CRSP, President Health and Safety Professionals Inc.

Chris Alfano, Health & Safety Officer, Algoma District School Board

Are you responsible for completing workplace inspections? Join us to learn your legal responsibilities and how to identify workplace hazards. You will use a fun and interactive online tool to apply the concepts. You will learn how to use a game-based learning platform, conduct inspections, and apply this knowledge to your workplace. Please bring your smartphone or tablet to fully participate in the presentation.

Morning Keynote 7:45–8:30 am Keith O’Neil  Superbowl Champion | Author and Founder of 4th and Forever Foundation

Under My HelmetUnder My Helmet is the intensely personal story of a man working every day to prove his worth while struggling with a debilitating, and for years, undiagnosed mental illness.

Sleepless nights, unending anxiety and suicidal thoughts clouded his mind so dramatically, he even considered quitting the NFL multiple times. Two years later, during his time with the Indiana Colts that resulted in a Superbowl championship, he was still marked by

bouts of anxiety, depression and a slow descent to madness. It was not until Keith was diagnosed with Bipolar 1 disorder that things began to make sense. Embarking on a new journey, one that he is still on and will always be on, he shares his battles and the steps he’s taken to overcome adversity. His Foundation, 4th and Forever, is dedicated to assisting those living with and affected by mental health conditions, through programs that raise awareness, promote education and fund research to alleviate mental illness.

Workshop Special Bonus SAVE $249The conversation around managing marijuana in the workplace continues. With less than six months away from legalization, WSPS is offering an interactive workshop to help employers update their existing policies and procedures. This workshop is being offered in communities across Ontario but for attendees of Partners in Prevention Superior, this workshop has been included in the conference price.

Marijuana and the Workplace: Managing the Impact of Legalization and Policy DevelopmentDan Demers, Senior Manager, Strategic Business Development

The topic of marijuana access and its use is sensitive, complex and highly polarized with issues and implications for health and safety. Policy is the foundation of a drug-safe workplace, but policy missteps are unfortunately easy to make and often costly. This workshop will cover the essential components of a legally sound policy, the key organizational questions that need to be answered, when to update your policy and when to replace it, as well as peer

to peer dialogue focused on change management in your business. Policy is not just about paper, it’s about people, changing views and workplace culture. The interactive content will help fast track your organization through this otherwise painful process and leave you feeling clear, confident and ready for change.

Participants who complete the policy development questionnaire during the workshop will receive a tailored policy draft for their path forward. Pre-registration recommended to avoid disappointment! Register on-line or call our Customer Care Department to pre-register for this workshop. (Must register for PIP to be eligible for this workshop)
