SEM - BPSSEM - BPS
BW-BPS remainsfunctional. Maintenance isensured by SAP.
BI integrated Planning
BW - BPS
SEM-BPS becomes BW-BPS
SAP AG 2004, Strategy_Planning_BW_e 7
How does SAP secure customer investments in SAPBW-BPS?
Customers will not be forced to upgrade. All scenarioscreated with SAP BW-BPS* will still run, when SAP BIintegrated business planning was delivered.SAP BW-BPS will continue to be delivered andmaintained with SAP BI releases equal or higher thanSAP NetWeaver 2005.Planning scenarios built with SAP BW-BPS can coexistand integrate with planning scenarios built with SAP BIintegrated business planningApart from this fact, SAP will offer a migration path forthe move from SAP BW-BPS to SAP BI integratedbusiness planning if needed
The critical and time consuming part for modeling theplanning application (characteristics, keyfigures, authorizations, locking concept, ...) can be reused in BIintegrated business planningMore frontend related objects like planning layouts, webinterfaces etc. have to be rebuilt manually
* applies for SAP SEM-BPS, too

One generic planning tool for all solutions
Homogeneous analysis and planning user interface
Usage of BW OLAP features (e.g. drill-down, alerting, calculatedkeyfigures, …) for planning
