y SpecialNew Year-Mltlennium Greeting January^ 2000Arriving **home** in Brasilia, we began to open our E-mail box and found we

had 295 let ters to open... about half of them were circulars and odds and ends... bu tthe rest were messages from friends on both sides of the equator. It was nice to havejur apartment aired and cleaned by our minister Edson Gouveia's wife, Edivania,and their young daughter, Ellen. (Brother Edson and the local church were takingcare of our mail, bills and keys while we were gone.) We also had 5 months ofChristian Standards, Lookouts and Horizons piled up for review... although we hadseen many of them on our USA trip.

INTERLUDEWe found a great welcome and reception everywhere. Our first five davs werefilled; (Day One) a great welcome at Wednesday night prayer meeting; (Day Two) ajointmeeting of ^Senior Citizens * held in the church reception hall... (a regular groupofwhichDavidand Ruth havebeenministering); (Day Three) a Christmas celebrationwith food baskets and gifts for our elderly in the chapel at ADONAl; (Day Four) aSaturday morning meeting of the city preachers'association, with welcome and theirelection of three new officers to the directoiy of Christian College; {Laier the sameAfternoon) a celebration of the Lord s Supper following baptisms at a countryhome neara new Satelite village where a new church is being established and yet laterin the afternoon sat in on a meeting of the local Church directoiy; (Day Five) was aglorious Sunday morning worship, followed by the annual church assembly wheretwo new pastors(elders & evangelists) wereapproved... one, a recent college graduatewho has personally started two new churches and the other, a student from Angolawho is working on his Master of Theology degree and who is scheduled to return toAngola to begin a Preacher Training school there. Day Five was climaxed by a wellattended, dynamicevangelistic singfestand preachingservice. We were worn out withJoyU

HRISTM S IN RE IFEWe already had our tickets to travel by plane to Recife, Pemambuco inNortheast Brazil to spend Christmas with Staria Joy and her family.. We began alittle relaxation from our inspiring USA Pilgrimage . Staria & Luiz Carlos now liveina large old style house with 12 palm trees in their sandy back yard facing the beach.A strong wall serves as a breaker to keep the roaring waves from washing their yardaway. A young man staying with them climbed one tree and cut off bunches ofcoconuts, 30 coconuts in all, leaving another 30 for the next picking. Wehad freshcoconut milk during several davs. We hadexpected towalk along the beach every daybutwe could not get outmost ofthe time because ofthe strong waves beating on ourbackyard gate and so missed the early morning walks along the beach before the heatof the day. When the tide went out it was too hot to walk in the sun and wewere notenthusiastic to walk in thatarea in the dark of the moon. One ofthe days we werethere, a boy was bitten severely by a shark out from another beach and had to havehis leg amputated from the knee down. attended three special Christmasprograms in two churches andat theAssociation for theStreet Children. Especially itwas an inspiration to see these children who had come off drugs andprostitution andthe streets, give their witness oftheir new lives with the ChristmasMessage

PPRECUTIONWe want to thank you for sharing so faithfully in 1999 (as well asfor so manyyears gone by with your contributions andprayers inourministry') and for your specialLove Gift included in the $6000.00 which was presented at the National MissionaryConvention at the time of a great reception of many of the missionaries of Brazilalong with friends in the USA during the banquet in our honor. We were alsogratefully surprised at that time with special recognition by the presentation of theHonored Minister Pin of the Pension Fund by Dr. Wayne Long of EsporticChristian Mission, (the money gift, besides helping pay travel expenses and bills weencountered on our return, is helping to rebuild,., repair... our kitchen cupboards andperhapsadd a hot water heaterin our bathroom. FULLNESSO F T IM EGod has truly brought us through a Fullness of Time Experience. We have,along with 180 other missionaries ofthe Restoration Movement, participated in agreat awakening in Brazil during these 60 years. This is especially seen with theevangelical growth jumping from S per cent of the population to 35 percent. It isseen as well with renewal and spiritual awakening among a great many indifferent in the nation.

Five ministers met together together in June, 2000 andofficially organized a new ^'thrust to publish the journal that

had been stalled fo r over a year. The directory personallycontributed SI000.00 for a basic company

fund and sold advertizing space To pay for the firstPrinting of 5000 copies. They voted to restore th e name APLIC from the old publishing house. The first

distribution was made at the Annual Convention, July 7-9, 2000. Rubins name was on the list and he calledto sav. Send me 10 copies at 50 cents a copy for the next issue.URIELSILV invited David to speak on the subject The Lord's Supper ... (David's favorite subject) for thefirst Anniversary ofa new church opened in Uriel 's new home shortly after his graduation from Christian College.

This church is now averaging about 60 persons, bu t during the first year, Uriel had also opened work in four otherstates 12 beginnings with a goal of 20 churches in thisyear, 2000.,,,Ceara,Rio Grande, Sao Paulo, Bahia and the Federal District. His ministry goal islOOchurches by 2010. Word has come, that with the Accapela brethren and otherCommunitvgroups,we now have a Restoration Witness in all the StatesofBrazilRejoicewith usTHE CHRISTIANCOLLEGE IN BRASILIA has passed all records ofstudentenrollment. The four collegeshave at least 250 students... we are still trying toget some final statistics.
