    In 1938,Lee Byung-chull(19101987) of a large landowning familyin the Uiryeong county came to the nearby Daegu city andfounded Samsung Sanghoe, a small trading company with fortyemployees located in Su-dong.

    Samsung diversified into many areas and Lee sought to establishSamsung as an industry leader in a wide range of enterprises,moving into businesses such as insurance, securities, and retail.

    In the late 1960s, Samsung Group entered into the electronicsindustry.

    In 1980, the company acquired Hanguk Jeonja Tongsin in Gumi,

    and started to build telecommunication devices. The facility were developed into the telephone and fax

    manufacturing systems and became the centre of Samsung'smobile phone manufacturing. They have produced over 800million mobile phones to date.

    In 2009, the company took the position of the worldsbiggest IT maker by surpassing the previous leaderHewlett-Packard.Its sales revenue in the areas of LCD and

    LED displays and computer chips is number one in theworld. Some of the most popular items produced by Samsung

    include LED-backlit LCD TVs and Galaxy S mobile phones.

    volume producer of smart phones with a leading marketshare in the North America and Western Europe. Samsung is the second largest mobile phone producer ,

    just behind Nokia. While Samsung Galaxy Tab is giving intense competition to

    Apples tablet pcs, the competition will get more intense

    with the launch of slimmest tablet pc by Samsung (GalaxyTab 750).

    Samsung Galaxy S II has also been named as the bestsmartphone by many magazines.

    Joined the training under supervision of Mr. Shishir Pal

    Singh in District Kangra. Learnt about the distribution channels , and other

    marketing activities.

    Kept in touch with the RSO , Mr. Surjit Singh , who helped

    me to get knowledge about the companys operations inthe local area.

    Studied the sales patterns in the area of distributors , ShivaEnterprises (Gaggal) and Shivam Electronics (Kangra).

    Studied the distribution pattern.

    Samsung -> ND-> RDS -> Dealers -> Customers Compared the features of leading mobile companies

    operating in the area. Studied the dual sim series phones of Samsung and the

    competition.

    Studied the consumer demands and sales patterns. Worked with Samsung Promoters in a shop to get actual

    knowledge of the customer preferences. Studied the reasons for the increase in sales of Samsung

    Mobiles.

    Simple random sampling was used

    Sample size of 100 respondents was taken.

    Research was based on questionnaires separately forcustomers and dealers respectively

    Learnt about the consumer preferences.

    Understood the importance of incentives and schemesgiven to dealers for improving the sales. Dealers play equalrole to increase the sale of Samsung phones.

    Understood the impact of advertisements on customers. (Innovation)Change is the name of the game. (Samsung

    launches at least 3 models every month).

    Fierce battle with the china manufactured/ importedphones.

    Nokia loosing the battle (launched only three dual simphones till now while Samsung has more than 15 already).

    More prosperous days for Samsung Mobiles to come !!
