They raise grass-fed Dutch Belted dairy cows, a breed known for its naturally homogenized, sweet-flavored and more easily digestible milk. The farm gently pasteurizes and bottles its milk on- site in reusable glass bottles, a practice that’s good for the environment and helps maintain the flavor of their milk. Best of all, the milk comes straight from the farm to the co-op and you. ORGANIC ORGANIC This fall, the Monadnock Food Co-op sponsored a viewing of the film “A Place at the Table” raising awareness and inspiring collective action to address hunger and obesity locally, and food policy reform nationwide. What’s Happened Since "A Place at the Table"? A committee of member-owners formed shortly after the event to brainstorm ways to make healthy food more accessible to our region’s residents. They plan to promote our “Healthy Food for All” Program, which provides individuals receiving SNAP benefits a 10% discount on their purchases, by meeting with local non-profits who regularly work with the people this program could serve. We will continue to work regionally with Cooperative Fund of New England, a community loan fund serving co-ops and community-based non-profits, and the Neighboring Food Co-op Association (NFCA), a regional network of over 30 food co-ops and startup initiatives across New England to make healthy food access a priority in our communities. A second showing of "A Place at the Table" is scheduled for November 17th, 1 p.m. at the Colonial Theatre in Keene. We invite you to take your place at the table and view this important film. After the film the Co-op’s Healthy Food for All Committee will hold their second meeting. Celebrate Plaid Friday with us!
