The full version, link mentioned above, concludes: “It is so hard to express in words what a unique experience
adoption has been for us. It has been quite a journey facing infertility, as well as so many unknowns and acts of kindness and sacrifice—all with so many emotions—which
led to the growth of our family. There were times when our faith was shaken and we weren't sure if we could
handle our cross. But adopting Andrew has made us more aware of God's power and of his love for us. We realize
that he always has a perfect plan for our lives.
*Jenny and Bill (all names have been changed for privacy) would like to encourage you be open to the gift of
adoption. Is God calling you to consider adopting a child or placing your child for adoption? To learn more
information, contact your diocesan office.”

Thirty-First Sunday in Ordinary Time
First Reading: Wisdom 11:22–12:2
Second Reading: 2 Thessalonians 1:11–2:2
Gospel: Luke 19:1-10
In love, God created the world and all things in it. His love for all souls moves him to forgive sins so all
can repent and know his love. Jesus Christ is the embodiment of his love, and comes to invite and
empower each of us, especially the lost, to turn back to
God and know the joy of his mercy.
“When Jesus came to the place, he looked up and
said to him, ‘Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for
today I must stay at your house.’” Luke 19:5
Jesus saw goodness in Zacchaeus’ heart and called
him to be in His presence. Jesus has called all of us
into His presence and awaits our thankful responses.

2019 Catholic Services Appeal Bringing Christ to Others
Our Parish Target: $168,400
Our Parish Participation Goal: 414 households
Thanks to those who have already responded with a gift to the 2019 Catholic Services Appeal. To date we have raised
$68,530.00 toward our goal through the support of 133 households. There is still plenty of time to respond with a gift to this year’s Appeal. Gifts can be made through our
parish office or online at www.ArchLou.org/CSA.
2019 Archdiocese for the Military Services USA Next weekend, our parish will take up a collection for
the Archdiocese for the Military Services (AMS). Established by Saint John Paul II in 1985, the AMS is responsible for providing the full range of pastoral ministries available in other U.S. dioceses to those
serving in the United States Armed Services, including those stationed at Fort Knox. It provides pastoral care for more than 1.8 million men, women, and children. The Archdiocese for the Military Services receives no funding from the government or the military, has no
parishes for a weekly in-pew collection, and must rely principally on private donations to provide many
programs and services. Thank you for your generosity. If you would like to support this fund, simply mark your
donation Military Services USA and place in the collection basket during Mass.

Angel Tree Program 2019: We will still have some families that will have their children on forms like we had last year. New this
year is what is called the Affordable Christmas. In addition to handing out
angel tree forms we will be collecting toys and other items next weekend and the
weekend of Nov. 17th. (The Angel Tree will be available beginning Nov. 9th). It is felt that this
program will allow the parents to feel that they are truly giving their child a Christmas present. I ask for your support this year so that Saint James does its
part in bringing a Merry Christmas to the children of Hardin County. God Bless You,
Deacon Karl
On Thanksgiving Day, area churches and Helping Hand of Hope are co-sponsoring
a Thanksgiving Dinner. This meal is hosted at Saint James Catholic School,

November 3rd-9th is Vocation Awareness Week
As Catholics, we firmly believe that God has a plan for our lives! He calls some to marriage, some to the priesthood, and others to religious life. Some remain as generous single people. Fully living our own vocations—and teaching young people how to discern God’s call—is a
serious duty, but also a joyful one. Today begins National Vocation Awareness Week. During this week, please pray about how God is calling you to live your vocation more deeply. Encourage
the young people in your life—children, grandchildren, students, and friends—
to be open if God calls them to priesthood or consecrated life.
