Parish Mission Statement
We, the parish community of St George, celebrate the welcoming presence of Christ in our lives. Together with the universal Church, we are nourished and sustained through the Mystery of the Holy Eucharist, and we are inspired by the proclamation of the Word,
guided by the Holy Spirit. We continually seek to grow in a deeper
understanding of our faith, to respect the sanctity of human life, and respond to what Jesus asks of
us in our time by sharing our gifts and participating in parish activities
and outreach to others.

From Your Pastor
Consider Joining Our Community of Ministries Call or e-mail the Parish Office today to check out the many possibilities. We have something for everyone!
―Every worthwhile gift, every genuine benefit, comes from above,‖ says St. James in the second reading. But, he reminds us, true worship of God involves using those good gifts to benefit the less fortunate. Good stewardship is not optional; it is the hallmark of our Faith!
Total Weekly Ordinary Collection Weekend of August 25, 2019 Ordinary Weekly: $ 5,452.00 Online Giving: $ 1,627.00 Total: $7,079.00
Your generosity helps us to continue to be a vibrant parish community worshipping our Risen Lord and reaching out to our neighbors in need.
Thank you for your support!

Diocesan Victim Service Coordinator Note
If you have been abused or victimized by someone representing the Catholic Church, please believe in the possibility for hope and help and healing. We en-courage you to come forward and speak out. The victim service coordinator for the Diocese of Worces-ter is Judith Audette. A report can be made by phone to (508) 929-4363.
MISSION COOPERATIVE APPEAL
The Second Collection next Weekend, Septem-ber 7th/8th, will be the Annual Mission Coopera-tive Appeal. Fr. Evans Fwamba, C.P. from the Congregation of Passion in Kenya will speak on behalf of this appeal. The Passionist Missions help the poor in the slums of Nairobi and staff two orphanages in the Diocese of Homa-bay. They are also working with and instructing ap-proximately 50 young men who have answered the call to serve in their missions, presently as seminarians and novices and later as priests. Your generosity, both spiritually and financially, toward this appeal will be greatly appreciated.
Fr. Niccolls
We are looking to form a Saint George’s Youth Cho-
rus to sing along with the 9:00 A.M. group once a
month at Mass. The Youth Chorus would consist of
students Grade 3 and up. The group would meet to
rehearse every other Tuesday from 6:30 – 7:30 in the church. The goal is to give children additional oppor-
tunities to serve as ministers at Mass, gain a deeper
understanding of how music ties into Liturgy, and
share in the vibrant Saint George music commu-
nity. We need a minimum of six children to form the
group. Attendance at rehearsals would be a require-
ment to be able to sing with the group at Mass.
If you are interested, please contact Bill White @ [email protected] or speak to him in person
after Masses on Sunday mornings.

Altar Ministries
We are thankful to the Altar Servers and Ministers of
Holy Communion from TEAM C who will serve at our Masses
next weekend.
We will have a Blessing for Catechists on September, 15th at the 9:00 a.m. Mass. Orientations will be held on Tuesday, September 10th and Thursday, Septem-ber 12th, both at 6:30 p.m. Mass and Sunday, Sep-tember 15th at 10:00 a.m. Teachers are asked to contact Sarah Kelly or Kevin Brown with their chosen orientation date.
2019-2020 Registration
The new year of religious education is approaching fast! Classes begin the week of September 15th We hope everyone is having a fantastic summer with fam-ily and friends, but we are very much looking forward to seeing everyone again soon for classes. We are now past the first cut off date of August 1st. The fee now increases to $100 a student, not to ex-ceed $175 per family. Regardless of when you regis-ter, there is also an additional fee of $35 for all students making a sacrament this year, First Communion and Confirmation. Please do not hesi-tate to reach out if fees are a concern for your family. We would never want finances to hinder your children from taking part in religious education. All information for how to register can be found on our parish website www.saintgeorgesparish.org. or you can email Sarah Kelly at [email protected] Classes for Our Youngest Parishioners Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a religious education program for children ages 3-5. The class meets one morning a week for an hour. The day for the 2019-2020 school year is TBD and will depend on families' schedules. Please contact Sarah Kelly at [email protected] to find out more about this wonderful program.
Teachers Needed Thank you also to those who have volunteered to teach. Our program cannot happen without dedicated volunteers. On Monday , we are still in need of teachers for some grade levels. All materials, curricu-lum and lesson plans are provided, in addition to sup-port. Please prayerfully consider volunteering to teach in our program. Ideally, we have 2 classes (max of 12 students) per grade level on Mondays and 1 class (max of 12 students) per grade level on Tuesdays. It is extremely helpful to have 2 adults, or 1 adult and 1 post Confirmation teen per class. On Mondays teachers are needed in the following grades: Grade One, Grade Two, Grade Three. Please contact Sarah Kelly at [email protected]
After the volcano in Iceland interrupted air travel
earlier this year, several stranded passengers were
interviewed as they waited for days to get out of the
airport and on their way home. Some complained
about poor service or how they were so badly incon-
venienced. But one woman joked about her plight,
making others laugh about being tired, stinky and
less than ready to meet the queen! Her good humor
made things a lot more bearable.
Jesus reminds us that we are all equal before God and
we should treat each other with dignity and respect.
When people seek a higher place than we have, let
them. When someone who has nothing to give wants
to be included, allow him. If someone is poor or un-
educated or socially awkward, include him. God sees
all and rewards those who see Him in others.
We have opportunities to practice this kind of virtue
and humility every day. In the parking lot after Mass,
coming home from work, at the table with our family
and talking to neighbors and friends are times when
we can be more generous, more caring and more un-
derstanding of the needs of others. Try to listen a lit-
tle more than you speak, give a little more than you
get, offer a little more than you must. It will all come
back to you in ways that you cannot measure.

We invite adults interested in receiving Baptism, First Eucharist, Confirmation or the Sacrament of Marriage to learn more
There is always more for all of us to learn about our Catholic faith. Are you a baptized Catholic or baptized into another religion but have never received any formal religious education? Perhaps God is calling you to learn more about the Catholic faith to explore the possibility of becoming Catholic? Are you married to a Catholic and attending Mass but you are now possibly considering becoming Catholic? Are you an Adult Catholic who has not received the Sacraments of Holy Communion and/or Confirma-tion? If so, we invite you to join us to learn more about the Catholic faith. Please see a member of our pastoral staff for more information. Classes begin soon.
Volunteer Opportunity
Ignatian Volunteer Corps (IVC) New England, a year-long volunteer opportunity for women and men 50 years of age and better, is recruiting volunteers for the upcoming (September to June) year.
Volunteers give two full days/week of service and commit to a monthly spiritual reflection program in the Jesuit tradition. IVC works with nonprofits in the Bos-ton/Worcester/Providence areas that address prob-lems of homelessness, education, immigration and more. Get info and application by contacting regional director Dave Hinchen at:
[email protected], or check out the IVC New England website @ www.ivcusa.org/new-england
Eucharist and Prayers for the Sick Please: Call to let us know if a family member or neighbor is hospitalized, homebound or ill.
We can arrange to visit and bring Eucharist. Remem-ber that due to HIPAA regulations, unless you allow the hospital or health care institution to release infor-mation and list St. George’s as your religious affilia-tion, we are not told that you are a patient.
We call the area hospitals each week to see if any of our parishioners are hospitalized. Thank you for your understanding.
Help keep our Church cool Please help us keep our church cool by closing any window or door that you notice is open. This will help to assure that the air conditioner is working at full efficiency.

“Just One
Thing”
Our lives can be filled with so much! Yet God is pre-sent and speaks to us always, especially at Mass. We hear it sometimes, but at times the clutter of life can cause us to miss it or forget.
When you join us for Mass - listen and pray for JUST ONE THING. Ask God to help you hear JUST ONE THING: one word or idea, one challenge or invitation. Jot it down - Pencils and ―Mass Notes‖ paper are at each church entrance.
Hold this ONE THING in your mind and heart during the next week. Pray and trust. God’s love for you will grow this ―ONE THING‖ within you into what it is meant to be.

As the Season begins to change, so do the needs of our
less fortunate neighbors
I am beginning to notice that, when I bring Holy Communion to the elderly residents in our near-by rest home, they are wondering if I might have sweaters or sweatshirts to share with them. They explain that when they go out in the early morning the weather is cool now.
The guests at the Mustard Seed are also begin-ning to ask for sweatshirts, long sleeved shirts and blankets.
As always, I come to you with confidence. I know that you will respond to these needs with kindness.
Current Outreach needs include:
Deodorant Back Packs Gently used sweatshirts Shirts with long sleeves Light blankets Sleeping bags Hygiene products Light jackets sweaters
And as always, Non-perishable food items are always needed, especially breakfast cereal.
Items can be left in the Outreach Area - inside the parking lot side door.
Our Next Mustard Seed Meal is scheduled for September 20th. At the beginning of the month, the needs will be posted at each church exit.
Loving our children and being loved by them is what
God intended. This love -a tough, flexible bond —
knits the family together despite the clashes, power
struggles, and hurtful words that often mark the teen-
age years. However, no matter how much we love our
children, they are essentially on loan from God. They
are ours to nurture, shape and guide for a short pe-
riod of time. We don’t own them or have the right to
live their lives for them. Our task is to prepare them
for life. Then, whether we feel they are ready or not,
we surround them with prayer and release them into
their own separate worlds.
