Dear parishioners,

We are set for a limited opening of the Church for Sun-

day Holy Masses on Saturday, July 4th 2020.

Kindly find details about it in the brochure, Opening Saint Augustine. Please read

it carefully before coming to Church.

To attend Holy Mass, one would need to Register ahead of time. Holy Communion

will be distributed at the end of the Holy Mass. There will be no more Holy Commun-

ion out in the parking lot. To receive Holy Communion one needs to come inside the

Church.

Our Holy Mass times are:

Saturdays: 5:00 PM (Holy Communion – 5:45 PM)

Sundays: 10:00 AM (Holy Communion – 10:45 AM)

5:00 PM (Holy Communion – 5:45 PM)

Registrations can be online or by calling in. Information about registrations will be

sent out next week.

The maximum number per Mass is 65. Kindly plan to attend the Saturday, 5:00 PM

Holy Mass which has less people. That way you are sure to get a reservation.

The 10:00 AM Holy Mass well be live-cast on Zoom for those parishioners staying

Home. Later, a recording will be available on YouTube.

7:00 pm. Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the process in which adults become full, participating members of the Catholic Church. Baptism, Communion, and Confirmation. Interested? What's Going on in Faith Formation?

THIS IS OPEN TO ALL THE CHILDREN OF THE ST. AUGUSTINE PARISH

COMMUNITY. YOUR CHILD NEED NOT BE IN SACRAMENTAL PREP TO PAR-TICIPATE.

Faith Formation class will resume June 28th beginning at 11:30 am via Zoom.

The link will be emailed to all Parents. If you would like your child(ren)/grandchild(ren) to participate, please send me an email to include them on the list. You do not have to register them in Faith Formation at this time. This includes the Sacramental Prep Class, as it is an excellent refresher for those that have already received the Sacrament of First Communion.

Your next questions is probably, what do you do? Each week we ask one child

to volunteer to read the Gospel the following Sunday. We ask another child to pre-sent a Saint, his/her history and what is important about them.

been hosting a silly storytime for kids on zoom (mainly ages 3-6). We typically start our sessions shaking out our sillies (dancing), read about 2-3 stories, and end with dancing. It's like a reading dance party for kids!

program between the Seniors of the Parish and the Faith Formation program, specifically the Sacra-mental Prep students and I need your help. This entails physical mail between you and the student, not through e-mail. If you can give Linda permission to give me your home address, I can then match you with one of the Sacra-mental Prep children. They will initiate the contact, again by physi-cal mail, with you and you in turn respond to their mail. This will be a great way for the children to stay connected to the Parish. Five Holy Habits You Can Teach Your Children

Part I — Patience by Jeannie Ewing

Patience

If you have small children, you will understand why patience is such a vital holy habit to foster. In our home, two little girls find that time ticks all too slowly, and they are hardly able to wait for pretty much anything — dinner, a fun activity, the school bus, a visit with Nana and Papa, you name it. How in the world do we get our kids to learn that this virtue of ‘long-suffering’ is necessary to their interior life and survival in the world?

A lot of parents acquiesce to their kids’ whining, incessant complaining, and otherwise badgering. I’ll admit that I’ve done this a few times out of exasperation. But I think it’s important to note that our children watch us more than they do what we say. So, if I’m not exhibiting patience while we’re stuck in traffic or behind a slow-moving ve-hicle (both of which are highly probable in the rural area where we live), why would my girls learn a better behavior than mine?

One way we’ve taken small steps toward growth in patience is by setting some ground rules about why we wait and how waiting can be used as an opportunity to offer up our frustration as a prayer for those who come to mind. My daughter, Felicity, in particular is very sensitive to the suffering world and its people, so this works well for her. Sarah, the boisterous and loquacious one, benefits more from our verbal boundaries, that old adage, “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.”

The bottom line is that we call each other out (yes, the grown-ups, too) when we’re grousing about how we wish something or someone would hurry up. Then we say a silent prayer of sacrifice for whatever intention we wish.

Kindness

Kindness is very important to our family because of Sarah’s craniofacial condition. We all know that children can be cruel to each other due to differences in appearance or personality. Very small kids likely will blurt out what they’re thinking (no holds barred) without any malicious intent, though. But we’ve discovered that one is never too young to practice kindness toward another.

Kindness is very closely related to the beatitude of meekness, as well as to the theological virtue of charity. In fact, all virtues are born from the greatest master of charity. But kindness, when demonstrated, is really about how we treat other people. Again, cliches work well with kids, so we say, “Let’s treat people how you want to be treated.”

Children notice differences – in opinion, dress, size and weight, manner of speech – pretty much every-thing. We’ve told our girls from a young age that God made us all different, because we each have something spe-cial to offer the world.
