SAINT ALOYSIUS BARBECUE Join us for the 1st Annual Saint Aloysius Most Delicious BBQ Cookoff on Saturday, May 17 from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. on the school and church grounds. Cooks from all over the region will compete for the title of Best BBQ. The cost will be $15.00 at the door and you get to sample the different barbecues that the cooks have prepared. Side dishes will be available at an additional cost. A live band will be sure to entertain and there will be lots of activities for the kids. A dessert cookoff will also be held so prepare your sweet tooth! Vendors of all kinds are welcome to sell their wares by securing a space for $25.00. Faith Formation classes will not be held on Easter Sunday. Classes will resume next Sunday, April 27. CHILDREN'S OFFERTORY ENVELOPES Saint Aloysius Parish offers boxed children's offertory envelopes for those families who wish them. They are available after the weekend Masses in the Ministries Office or during the week in the Church Office. Please sign the list by the number of the box that you receive so we can properly credit the children who contribute.

CHILDREN’S BULLETINS Saint Aloysius Parish offers children’s bulletins designed for those in kindergarten through first grade. A bulletin made just for them can make Church a more special time. They incorporate the weekly Scriptures into activities to provide children a way to understand the stories of the Bible. The bulletins are located on the cabinet behind the baptismal font.

LABELS AND PULL TABS Please save Boxtops for Education coupons, Campbell’s UPCs, and pull tabs from aluminum cans for our school to redeem items for the students. Place your labels and aluminum pull tabs in the wooden box on the bulletin table in the Narthex. Nestle water labels are no longer being accepted. Thanks for your help!

Shelley Ryan EUCHARISTIC ADORATION Due to practice for First Holy Communion taking place in the Church on the first Saturday of May, our monthly Eucharistic Adoration will be held the following Saturday, May 10 from 4:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. A sign-up list will be in the sanctuary to keep a record of who is attending Adoration and at what hour. JOHN CARROLL MIDDLE SCHOOL TRYOUTS John Carroll Catholic High School will hold basketball tryouts for incoming 7th and 8th grade boys and girls on April 22—24 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A physical signed by a doctor is required to try out. SENIOR ADULTS ACTIVITY Saint Francis Xavier Parish (2 Xavier Circle in Birmingham) will sponsor its monthly activity for Catholic senior adults on Thursday, April 24 from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. This event will be a Mass-luncheon-bingo with a $7.00 donation to defray the cost for lunch. Lunch will be Meatloaf, Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans, Salad, Rolls, Dessert, and Drinks. The reservation deadline is Noon on Wednesday, April 23. LEBANESE FOOD AND CULTURAL FESTIVAL Saint Elias Maronite Parish (836 8th Street South in Birmingham) will hold their 16th Annual Lebanese Food and Cultural Festival on April 25—26. Delicious homemade Lebanese food will be for sale in addition to tours of the church, the only Maronite church in Alabama. The Amin Sultan Band will perform each night. Twenty-five percent of all proceeds go to local and national charities other than Saint Elias.

The 2nd Annual Saint Elias Cedar 5K Run and Walk will be held on Saturday, April 26 benefitting the SUKI Foundation (Spreading Unconditional Kindness Intentionally), a non-profit organization established to raise money and awareness for Rett Syndrome. ITALIAN FOOD FESTIVAL The 3rd Annual Feast of Saint Mark Italian Food Festival will be held at Saint Mark the Evangelist Parish (7340 Cahaba Valley Road in Birmingham on Saturday, April 26 from 4:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. (Mass is at 3:00 p.m.) Enjoy authentic Italian cuisine, cookies and cannolis, games and rides for the children, and singing and dancing for adults. GOLF FORE LIFE Her Choice Birmingham Women’s Center’s 11th annual golf tournament fundraiser, Golf Fore Life, will be played on Friday, May 2 at Highland Park Golf Course in Birmingham. Her Choice is a pro-life pregnancy resource center in Birmingham. Lunch will be provided at Noon with a shotgun start at 1:00 p.m. The cost is $200.00 per individual golfer, with foursomes being organized. Individual golfers who are not part of a foursome will be paired up with a group. Corporate hole sponsors for $500.00 are invited. Registration deadline is Friday, April 25. CENTERING PRAYER RETREAT The Benedictine Sisters Retreat Center in Cullman and Contemplative Outreach Birmingham will sponsor a Centering Prayer retreat at the Retreat Center on May 2—4. This retreat, designed for those who have already attended an introductory retreat or workshop, will focus on further developing the discipline of Centering Prayer, a form of Christian prayer rooted in the ancient Christian contemplative tradition.
