Never take your child out of the childrestraint while the vehicle is moving. Neverleave child unattended.

Placing your child in a hot child restraint mayresult in burns.

Do not use a child restraint with damaged ormissing parts.

Do not use cut, frayed or damagedharnesses.

Do not lubricate buckles and fasteners.

Do not substitute parts or try to modify thechild restraint in any way.

Do not use any child restraint accessoryexcept those approved by Dorel Juvenile Group.

Never allow any child to play with this childrestraint; it is not a toy.

Do not remove or cover up any of thewarning labels or other labels on the childrestraint.

Failure to follow these warnings can result in theserious injury or death of your child. To help yourecognize instructions which are most critical toyour child’s safety, we use this symbol:

Check the vehicle belt or LATCH belt beforeeach use. Use only if the belt is tightenedproperly and securely.

This child restraint should be securely beltedin the vehicle even when not in use. In a crashor sudden stop, an unsecured child restraintcould injure occupants.

Do not use a child restraint that has been in acrash. You must get a new child restraint.

Your child’s height, weight and age determine how your childrestraint should be placed in the vehicle.

Check Harness Height

Follow the guidelines belowto determine the correctharness height.

Forward-Facing Position

Do not use this child restraint rear-facing if the top of your child’s headis above the top of the childrestraint.

Do not use this child restraintforward-facing if the midpoint of yourchild’s head is above the top of thechild restraint.

Make sure the harness height is correct foryour child’s size.

Position Harness Straps Over the Child’s Shoulders.

1.

Buckle Harness

Push each buckle tongueinto buckle until you hear a“click”. Remember toalways pull up on harnessstraps to make sure buckleis locked.

Close Chest Clip

Insert right half of chest clipinto left half and snap together.

3.

Tighten Harness

Pull on harness tightening strap to tightenharness snugly.

NOTE: A snug strapshould not allow anyslack. It lies in a relativelystraight line withoutsagging. It does not presson the child’s flesh orpush the child’s body intoan unnatural position.

4.

Position Chest Clip

The chest clip must beplaced at mid-chest (evenwith armpits) and awayfrom the child’s neck.

Failure to fasten and tighten the harnesssystem correctly and snugly can result inserious injury or death.

Check HarnessTightness

Try to pinch the harness atthe shoulders. If you canpinch the harness strap,tighten more. If yourfingers slip off, theharness is tight enough.

Pull pad off corner. Hookbottom of cup holder to edgeof plastic shell.Rotate cup holder up until itsnaps into the hole on theplastic shell. Replace pad.

This child restraint has 2recline positions:

Rear-facing - Reclinestand MUST be foldedunder child restraint.

Forward-Facing - Reclinestand MUST be in theupright position.

To Recline

Pull down on the reclinestand and rotate up intobottom of the shell.

For upright position, rotatethe recline stand out andpush up to lock intoposition.

You must remove the harness system to remove thepad on the plastic shell.


1. Remove Harness Guides

Remove both lower harnessguides in bottom of seat.


Replace child restraint pad by reversing order; Starting frombottom of child restraint, slip pad on plastic shell; pullharness tightening strap through pad. Wrap pad around thetop of shell. Replace harness guides.

Attach all of the elastic straps.

Rethread harness (see section C-9).

Remove Pad

Pull pad off the top of childrestraint and remove pad.

NOTE: DO NOT remove theair protect® system from theshell.

Cleaning Pad

Hand wash pad with warm sudsy water, rinse clean and airdry. Spot clean the harness straps. Do not use bleach or useother harsh cleaners. Do not dry clean.

Turn the seat over andlocate the lower harnessseat guides.

Place the screw driver’s tipbetween shell and harnessguide, then twist the screwdriver while pulling theharness guide from thefront. Repeat for other side.

Use the child restraintonly on vehicle seats thatface forward. Do not useon seats that face thesides or rear of thevehicle.

Some seating positions in your vehicle may not be safe forthis child restraint. Some vehicles do not have a seatingposition that can be used safely with this child restraint. Ifyou are not sure where to place the child restraint in yourvehicle, consult your vehicle owner’s manual or contactDorel Juvenile Group Consumer Relations Dept.

Never place a child rear-facing in aseating position with an active frontalairbag. This can result in serious injuryor death.

Safety Tip:Children are saferwhen properlyrestrained in rearseating positions than

in the front seating positions.

According to National Highway TrafficSafety Administration information, childrenin rear seating positions are statisticallysafer, whether you have air bags, advancedair bags, or no air bags at all.

Safety Tip:To help protect your vehicle seat’s upholstery fromdamage, use a single layered towel underneath andbehind child restraint.To avoid your child being seriously burned,take the following precautions:1. Park in the shade or where sun does not directlyhit the child restraint.2. Cover the child restraint with a sheet or blanketwhen not in use.3. Check for hot child restraint and buckles beforeplacing child in child restraint.

Vehicle Belts

If LATCH is not an option,you must use the vehicleseat belt system to installthe child restraint. There aresome vehicle belts that willnot work with a child

restraint or will require special attention.

The LATCH System

LATCH (Lower Anchors andTethers for CHildren) is auniversal system for installingchild restraints without usingvehicle seat belts.

The LATCH system can ONLYbe used in vehicles that have

the LATCH anchor bars installed and designated LATCH seatingpositions. Most vehicles manufactured after September 2002 areequipped with LATCH.

Check your vehicle owner’s manual to see which seatingpositions may be equipped with the LATCH system.

LATCH Anchor Bars

Do not use both the LATCH belt and vehiclebelt at the same time.

Not all vehicle belts will work with this child restraint. Thischild restraint must be tightly locked in place at all times,during travel. You must determine if your vehicles belts arecompatible with this child restraint.Vehicle Belts• Automatic/Passive vehicle seat beltsYou MUST have a vehicle lap belt to install any childrestraint. An automatic (passive) shoulder vehicle belt mayor may not have a separate vehicle lap belt. Consult yourvehicle owner’s manual.

• Vehicle belts in center of thedoor or side panelYou must move the child restraint toanother seating location. Consult yourvehicle owner’s manual.• Vehicle belts that are in front ofthe seat bightYou may need to move the childrestraint to another seating location.Consult your vehicle owner’s manual.

• ELR (Emergency Locking Retractor) vehicle beltsThese lap and shoulder vehicle belts only lock in a suddenstop or crash, and do not properly secure a child restraintalone. Consult your vehicle owner’s manual.

To learn if you have this type ofvehicle belt, gently pull the vehicle beltall the way out of the retractor (spool),let it return several inches, then pullon it again. If it moves freely, it is an

ELR vehicle belt. If it is locked and will not allow any morevehicle belt to come out, it is a switchable retractor.

Review your vehicle’s owner manual for vehicle seat belt usewith child restraints. This is your best source for informationconcerning your vehicle.

ELR lap-only vehicle belts MUST NOT be usedwith this child restraint.


• Switchable retractorThese vehicle belts switch from ELR to ALR (AutomaticLocking Retractor). You must have the vehicle belts in thelocking mode to use them. Follow the instructions in the installation sections.• ALR (Automatic Locking Retractor)These vehicle belts lock after pulling the webbing out andletting the vehicle belt go back into the retractor an inch ortwo. Follow the instructions in the installation sections.Vehicle Latch Plates

• Check the Latch PlatesGrasp the tongue portion ofthe latch plate (the part thatgoes inside the buckle) andpull straight out, inline withthe vehicle lap belt. If thelatch plate does not slide upand down the vehicle belt,you have a locking latchplate. You should not needto use a locking clip. Consultyour vehicle owner’s manual.

If the latch plate slides up and down on the vehicle belt, andyou have an ELR retractor, you MUST use a locking clip toinstall the child restraint. You may not need to use the lockingclip with a switchable or ALR retractor. Consult your vehicleowner’s manual.

Move the front seats forwardto give you room to install thechild restraint. With the childrestraint in the reclinedposition, center the childrestraint in the chosenseating position.

Check for Proper Recline

Make sure level lines on sideof plastic shell are level withground. Adjust child restraintif needed.

You may need to place a largerolled towel(s) (A) or foam poolnoodle(s) under the front ofthe child restraint to allow thelevel line on the side of theplastic shell to be level withthe ground. Check often to besure padding is still in placeand the LATCH belt is tight.

Hook LATCH to VehicleAnchor

Fasten one LATCH belt hookto the anchor in the vehicleseat located in the vehicleseat bight. Repeat for otherside of child restraint.

Check LATCH BeltTightness

Grasp the child restraintat the belt path with onehand. Push and pull thechild restraint from side toside, forward and back. Thechild restraint should notmove more than 1 inch.

NOTE: If it moves more than an inch, try reinstalling the childrestraint or try another seating location.Secure your child in the child restraint.

To Remove LATCH BeltFrom Vehicle Anchor

Remove child from childrestraint. Press downfirmly on adjuster side ofchild restraint and pressrelease button to releasetension. Unhook LATCHfrom bar by squeezingspring lever and twist hook.

Tighten LATCH Belt

Push down firmly on thechild restraint and pull upon the free end of LATCHbelt to tighten.

Place Child Restraint inthe Back Seat Rear-Facing

Move the front seatsforward to give you room toinstall the child restraint.With the child restraint inthe reclined position, centerthe child restraint in thechosen seating position.

Make sure level lines onside of plastic shell are levelwith ground. Adjust childrestraint if needed.

You may need to place alarge rolled towel(s) (A) orfoam pool noodle(s) underthe front of the childrestraint to allow the levelline on the side of the plasticshell to be level with theground. Check often to besure padding is still in placeand the vehicle belt is tight.

Tighten Vehicle Belt

Push down firmly on thechild restraint and pull onthe vehicle shoulder belt totighten.

It maybe easier to tighten thevehicle belt through the beltpath opening as shown.

With a switchable retractor,pull the vehicle shoulderbelt all the way out toswitch the retractor into theALR mode before tightening.Feed the slack back into theretractor while tightening.

LATCH Belt Lap/Shoulder Belt

22-40 lbs (10.1-18 kg) and 34-43 in. (85.1-110 cm) and atleast 1 Year Old. Forward-Facing using 5-point harness

Never place a child less than one-year old orweighing less than 22 lbs. forward-facing.

Safety Tip:Experts agree that children should remain rear-facing as long as possible. In this childrestraint, your child can remain rear-facing up to40 pounds and up to 40 inches.

The top anchorage strap (tether) is used for the forward-facing position only.

Note: We strongly recommend that you use the topanchorage strap (tether) in the forward-facing position. Ifyour vehicle does not have an anchor bracket, please seeyour dealer or a qualified mechanic and have oneinstalled. The top anchorage strap (tether) can greatlyimprove the performance of this child restraint.

Storage of Top Anchorage Strap (Tether):

When the top anchoragestrap is not in use, attachthe top anchorage hook(tether) to the reclinestand as shown. Tightentether to remove theslack.

The following directions describe installing the child restraintrear-facing. Same steps apply for forward-facing, exceptinstall the restraint forward-facing and thread the vehicle beltin the forward-facing belt path.

Locate Locking ClipLocation

Grasp both vehicle beltstogether just behind thelatch plate and unbuckle.NOTE: If the latch plate endsup just at the belt pathopening so you cannotgrasp the vehicle belt at the

latch plate, grasp the vehicle belts on the opposite side of thechild restraint, as close to the latch plate as possible. Installthe locking clip on the latch plate end, as close as possible.


Push down firmly on thechild restraint and whilepulling on the vehicleshoulder belt to tighten.

Thread both portions of thevehicle belt onto the lockingclip, as close to the latchplate as possible.
