BOILERS INSTALLATION, MAINTENANCE, REFURBISHMENT AND CONVERSIONS
Our boiler maintenance division supplies emergency
breakdown, scheduled maintenance and total productive
maintenance services. Our services include water
treatment, water and steam conditioning, feed water,
bailer water conditioning, boiler blowdown, after-boiler
protection and chemical dosing. Sakhikusasa has extensive
experience working with boiler materials and can provide
advice to the client on non-destructive testing outcomes.
These include boiler quality plates, boiler tubes, pressure
castings, corrosion, fatigue strength and tensile strength.
Further to our experience on boiler materials, we have
been and we are able to assist the client with building new
refractories, insulation and lagging.
Our boiler service is a turnaround solution that provides
analytical and principled value advice on key boiler parts
such as evapo-rator surfaces, super-heater and reheaters,
economisers and airheaters.

Boilers Design
Our boiler management services include but are not
testing, boiler evaluation through stripping and evaluation of parts to be replaced and boiler design for optimum performance.
Our design data preservation service enables us to provide critical maintenance and boiler replacement information to assist engineers and project managers reach the right decisions.
Sakhikusasa supplies, installs, maintains and repairs stoker-fired boilers,
burner-fired boilers, waste heat boilers and pul-verized fuel boilers. Our
boilers can be used in industrial and utility operations. Our boiler design
advice hinges on customization to meet specific requirements,
optimization of good performance and good quality for operation.
Our performance optimization targets help the client lower boiler losses
and auxiliary power consumption. Our dive is to ensure savings in power
are mainly in the fans and pumps and the lowering of stack and unburnt
losses. Our quality of work is driven by international boiler codes and
standards providing guidance with mechanical design, manufacturing and
workmanship, materials and stresses, inspection and testing,
documentation and marking, care and operational guidelines and welder
qualifications.
Coal to Gas Conversions
(coal, HFO, diesel powered boilers into gas powered boilers)
Boiler house refurbishment I upgrade and reconditioning of boiler systems
Our flagship coal to gas conversion solutions involves the drive to adopted more
environmental friendlier carbon emissions processes to produce steam from
pressure equipment. This service will entail a preliminary 36 monthly inspection;
which involves refurbishment of key pressure and auxiliary equipment in order
to restore the boiler to desired operation.
The coal to gas conversion cycle involves the installation of a natural gas station
which involves the build-up of civil platforms, pressure regulating plant, gas
piping into the boiler room, gas train, gas safety equipment and gas burner
mounted onto the converted boiler. All our coal to gas conversions are conduct-
ed with approved quality control plans and all health and safety regulations are
adhere to.
As part of the safety and quality checks the Authorized Inspection Authority and
engineering consultants provide assurance that the structural integrity of the
boiler conforms to the pressure equipment regulations as administered by the
Department of Labour.
The primary benefits of converting a coal boiler to fire natural gas are a more
cost-eective, cleaner, more ecient, and reliable source of steam. This results
in lower lifecycle costs as compared to a coal fired boiler because of compara-
tively lower maintenance cost given that the lifecycle of a boiler can range
between 50-60 years.
For most industrial boiler operators, re-utilization of the existing asset is the
most desirable course of action. Converting an existing boiler is typically 45%
to 60% of the cost of installing a new natural gas boiler. Additionally, converting
coal boilers to firing natural gas provides the following major benefits.
Cleaner Operation. Natural gas burns cleaner than coal, because it does not
contain significant amounts of sulfur, atomic nitrogen, particulate, or ash.
Additionally, natural gas allows for more pre-combustion controllability for lower
emissions, such as NOX and CO, without the need for extensive flue gas
treatment equipment. Operating Cost Savings. For several years the cost of
natural gas has been decreasing while the cost of coal has been increasing. By
using only natural gas instead of coal, facilities can eliminate operations,
maintenance, and environmental costs associated with coal/ash storage and
handling.
With no ash carryover, natural gas avoids ash build-up, which reduces heat
transfer, meaning the boiler can maintain its eciency.
Increased Boiler Flexibility. Converting to natural gas improves boiler flexibility
and turndown capability. Coal-fired boilers do not react to sudden load swings
demand. Bringing a coal-fired boiler back online after a shutdown requires much
more time than is required by a natural gas boiler.
