Composition is arguably the most important
component of every photographic scenario.Things to be aware of:• Rule of thirds. Place your subject as close
to any of these lines instead of the center ofthe image. Even better if your subject is atthe intersections.
• Out of Place. A repeating pattern with thesubject disrupting the pattern.
• Texture. Image composed of pure teture.• Environmental Portrait. The essence of
your subject in their environment.
•
Classical Portrait. Place eyes at the upperthirds line.
• Hey Look at Me. !ubject centred and in"your"face. Camera parallel to your subject "no diverging or converging lines.
• #se $anual mode % set shutter to &' sec. • #se a tripod % !teady!hot ()).• I!( to *+,. • )ocus"loc- % switch to $anual focus mode.• !et white balance. $ercury vapour lamps
)luorescent/ 0ormal bulbs Incandescent.If unsure/ shoot 1A2 % figure it out later.
•

1eduction 4in the I!( menu6 at I!( +''.
!tart with &' sec eposure/ % twea- from there.
(utdoor group portraits should be done in openshade 40(T direct sunlight6.
• Arrange your group in shade. • #se the camera7s flash and set flash
eposure compensation to "*.'.
If 8(# want to be in the shot as well:• Put the camera on a tripod. • !et the camera to *'"second !elf"Timer. • !hoot away9
The results will loo- uite professional.
$any waterfall pictures have a fluid uality to
them. A fast shutter speed free;es things. Aslow shutter ma-es everything moving appearblurry. !ince only the water is moving/ a slowshutter speed gives the sil-y effect.
• #se a tripod. Turn !teady!hot ()) only ifyour tripod is roc-"solid.
• !et I!( to *+,.• !et Eposure mode to ensity filter in front of the lens to slow theshutter speed even further.
