    Clocky: The Jumping Alarm Clock

Clocky is a brand of alarm clock outfitted with wheels, allowing it to hide itself in order to force the ownerto be awake in an attempt to find it. Invented for anindustrial design class by Gauri Nanda, then a

graduate student at MIT Media Lab, Clocky won the2005 Ig Nobel Prize in Economics. After earning herMasters Degree from MIT, Nanda founded acompany, Nanda Home, to commercialize Clocky(available at www.nandahome.com)

clock hides to block your snooze addiction

Do you hate getting up and the blaring alarm clock only resultsin you hitting the snooze 5 times and arriving to work late?Surely, you curse the alarm clock and accuse it of snoozing foronly 9 minutes instead of 10, robbing you of 1 minute extrasleep. (Actually, little known fact, most alarm clocks snooze

for 9 minutes not 10). Truly, you want to make it to work ontime, but ohhhhh how tempting hitting the snooze button just1 more time is. The Clocky alarm clock runs away and hideswhen you don't wake up. Clocky gives you one chance to getup. But if you snooze, Clocky will JUMP off your nightstand

and wheel around your room looking for a place to hide caneven jump 3 feet! Clocky is kind of like your dog or cat thatcomes pestering you on a Saturday morning wondering whythis day is any different than any other day and why you'restill in bed sleeping past 10am when you're usually up at 7am.
