Route of US Conduct: US Foreign Policy towards Muslim World from Its

    Independence

During the cold war US enjoyed good relations and supports against USSR and

communism during cold war but as USSR and communism collapsed suddenly US

changed its attitude and policy about Muslim world and Islam. Different surveys

show the how US is unpopular in Muslim world without any difference of liberal,

democratic, hardcore, islamist, secular Muslims. Vice-versa, Islam and Muslims

are now blaming many problems in west for different problem in world, specially

security. As the USSR challenged to West in all sphere of power including

ideology and military US emerged custodian of Western values and buildup a

global alliance with Muslim world to contain USSR. But as the US collapsed US

think-tank, politicians, diplomats, social and religious groups pointed out Muslims

and Islam as the enemy of west. 9/11, Iraq war and Afghan war gave the

opportunity to sharpen their attack against Islamic world and Islam.

This is quit interested that when US was forwarding towards its independence, in

the same time Muslim world was marching headed for disintegration,

technological and military inferiority and loosing the wars. As US got

independence it tried to established relation with some countries of Muslim world.

In the beginning , US was not able to influence the world because large part was

the colonial colonies of European countries so was not so much ambitious to

dominate the world. At that time also there was not any rivalry between Islam and

    West

Here the question is that how it is possible that decades long partnership

converted in foe just within 2 years of USSR collapse and it could not prolong

like Europe and US alliance or there was something wrong in the route of US

policy which Muslim world could not understand during engagement with US.

Was US biased because of long rivalry between Muslim world and Christianity

and this partnership was only temporary. To understand the whole US foreign

policy about Muslim world, there is a need to understand their approaches,

debated, media perception and political parties agenda towards Muslim worlds

    since US independence.

This paper would search out US foreign policy towards Muslim world since its

independence and will analyze in three layers as (1) contents of President and

foreign secretary speeches, debates in US senate and congress about Muslim

world, (2) Contents of News papers about Muslim world and (3) US government

action like different agreements in political, military social and economic areas.

Paper would also explore ups and down in US and Muslim world relations.

The study would cover the period from US independence (1776) t o beginning of

    world war 2 (1939).

    Aims and Objectives:

To study US policy towards Muslim world from its independence.

    Database and Methodology:

The study would be mainly based on secondary data. Most of that data and information

which will utilized in the present study would be spatio-temporal in nature. These data

mainly pertain to the period starting from US Independence to beginning of world war 2.

These data would be collected at both country and regional scale.

The study would be based on empirical historical, comparative, descriptive methods and

critical qualitative assessment of the description of events and political developments in the

study regions. The proposed nature of the present research itself would explain the

methodology of research. As the study requires an upto-date and in-depth analysis of the

relevant material to bring about a clear understanding of the subject; therefore; all relevant

points will be synthesized to present a defined framework. An exhaustive survey of relevant

literature and data would be carried out using other serious including internet for critical

evaluation of issues and debate surrounding the US-Muslim world relations. Several case

studies would be studied to support some of the arguments in the present investigation.

Different perspectives of the regional and global powers would be suitably analysed for clear

understanding of Muslim world and US policies issues. Though a lot of secondary data is

involved in the analysis and study of regional issues but priority is given to government data

    of the regional states.
