Meeting HighlightsIt was the best of times, it was the worst of times. . .no, wait, that’s adifferent story. Let’s see, meeting notes for the Rotary meeting on

September 27, oh yeah.

President Pete called the meeting to order at noon, followed by theinvocations given by Jack Endacott, song and pledge led by Lloyd Scott

(with a rousing tribute to the Barleen show with “Give My Regards ToBroadway”) and introductions of guests by TeresaMaria Widawski.

Visiting Rotarians included Janet Dickison (I think) for Longs Peak andAG Chris Woodruff from Greeley Centennial. Brad Rosenbaum

introduced our new exchange student Faustine from France.

JR announced that I didn’t win the raffle last week (neither did anyoneelse). Pot is at about $125 for this week’s game.

Jim Austin (reporting for Karen McClure) reported that the Farmers’Market has concluded another successful year. Vicky will be at next

week’s meeting to present the club with a check. Karen is retiring as chairof the Farmers Market committee so we need a new chair for next season.

Tara Moenning invited everyone to the Shred-A-Thon on October 6, 9amto 1 pm, at the fairgrounds in conjunction with the town’s electronics

recycling. Come on down and help out—free coffee available.

Don Widrig announced that the club will offer Rocky Cards again thisyear in December. Don’t buy one from anyone else.

Wayne Andersen kicked off the Salvation Bell ringing season explainingthe new organization for this year. It appears that it will take dozens ofpeople to do what Randy Skeie has been doing on his own for years.

Bottom line—we are responsible for ringing the bell at three locations (2 atSafeway, 1 at the Post Office) for only 11 days, November 29 through

December 9. Team captains and bell ringers are being recruited as wespeak. Salvation Army is working on an on-line sign up system. Stay

tuned.

Dave Evans reported that we are getting into the Foundation CommunityGrants season. Last year, we gave out over $12,000 to 17 local charitableorganizations. Applications are being emailed to those 17 organizations,

and will soon be available on line and as hard copies. Deadline forsubmitting grant applications is January 15th, with the review and

selection process happening in February and grants awarded in March.

Happy money:TeresaMaria was happy to see Mark Richards when visiting Santa Fe.Bob Brunson was happy to meet up with a fighter pilot friend at a Blue

Angels performance.Julia was happy (as was the rest of the club) because she was turning in

her club membership application todayBert Bergland was happy to have survived 200 miles on an ATV fall

colors trip over treacherous terrain.Claudine Perrault was happy the ATV drivers were “gentlemanly”

(sounds a little sexist to me) during her Rollinsville bicycle trip.
