Marcella Ruble Rook was theguest speaker at The Mystical, TheMysterious, and the Macabre, onMarch 17. Ms. Rook is an experton auras, guardian angels, and thepsychic.

Ms. Rook has the power to seedifferent peoples' auras anddemonstrated how people can findtheir own. Besides thatdemonstration, she gavedemonstrations on levitation, andhow to change the mood of aroom by using one word of a goodor bad experience.

After her lecture to a half-fullFine Arts Auditorium, Ms. Rookgave several demonstrations tothose interested in auras and toldhow to send thought waves.

Ms. Rook was a very interestingspeaker with an excellentknowledge of her subject.

Former NCCC student AndrewJ. MacVie has been nameddirector of a Job DevelopmentUnit (JOU) which will create 750new job and training opportunitiesfor veterans in Western New Yorkduring the coming year.

Mr. MacVie will head a ten manunit which will work along withthe New York State EmploymentService to seek personal contactswith approximately 7,000employers in an effort to reduceunemployment in this area. Thisprogram is the first of its kind inthe nation.

Mr. MacVie, a disabled veteranand former New York StateCoordinator for the NationalAssociation of ConcernedVeterans, became involved inveteran's affairs by working forthe NCCC Veteran'sAdministration.

Debate:

Maha Yogi Narayana willdebate with local church leaderson ESP In World Religions,Thursday, March 31 at 7:30 p.m.in the Fine Arts Aud.

Recognized as a master ofYoga, Narayana has studied yogaunder a number of Hindu,Buddhist, Chinese, and Africanmasters.

Narayana is also considered bymany as a leader in corporate andscientific ESP. Narayana,"guarantees a prediction accuracyof a minimum of 80 per cent inwriting."

Dr. William Warthling, aCatholic priest and assistantprofessor of philosophy at NCCC,will be one of the church leadersto react to Narayana'spresentation. Teaming with Dr.Warthling will be Dr. Paul L.Moore, pastor of the FirstPresbyterian Church in Lewiston.From Niagara Falls will be RabbiLawrence M. Pinsker, Rabbi ofTemple Beth Israel.

Dean Edward O'Keefe will bethe moderator.

The $2 charge will go to ProjectBlind Awareness in Buffalo.

320 makeDean's List

The Dean's List for lastsemester has just been established;180 students with 12 or morecredit hours made the Dean's List;140 students are on the part-timeHonor List for students carryingsix to 11 hours. To be on eitherlist a student must have at least a3.5 QPA for the semester with nograde lower than a "C" and noincomplete grades.

Letters will be prepared forstudents included on these lists.Ths Spirit will carry a notice assoon as the letters are available forpick-up at the Registrar's Office.

The Eighth Annual SpringConference of the NiagaraLinguistics Society was held atNCCC on March 25 and 26.

Conference Chairman wasEdmund J. Thomas, professor ofEnglish at NCCC. Janet Donnellyand William Warthling, NCCCfaculty members, participated inthe presentations.

The conference gaveprofessional linguists anopportunity to share their currentresearch and theories.Thoughts on Life

Budget meetings completedThe Budget Meetings of the

Student Senate have beenconcluded for a week now, andthe student representatives metlast Wednesday night to maketheir final recommendations tothe Board of Trustees.

These budget recommendationswill be printed in their entirety innext Monday's Spirit. The nextday there will be another openhearing at 12.30 p.m. in G242.

This meeting is designed for publicpresentation of the budget andwill provide time for feedbackfrom anyone present.

After the March 17 openbudget hearing, the Senate held aspecial meeting to present aresolution to pay for one trip toFlorida for organizer of theStudent Senate-sponsored trip,Treasurer T. J. Joseph. The totalapproved is $156.00.
