Sustainable development• Sustainable Development has four dimensions: The Ethical, the Social,
the Environmental and the Economic; in this order of priority.• Sustainable development is a value-based agenda. The ethics of human
dignity should determine the goals and processes of sustainable development.
• Economy is a means, not a goal of sustainability. The goal of the sustainable development agenda is to ensure, within and between generations, equitable access to contribute to and to benefit from development, within the limits of long-term ecological constraints, by means of appropriate technology and efficient economic institutions and action.
• Social development means institutional transformations towards improved empowerment, human security, inclusion and cohesion. It is both valued goal in itself and a fundamental prerequisite for the sustainability of developments in the other dimensions of sustainable development.

E.g. The City of Espoo in Southern Finland is “the most sustainable city in Europe”. The study measured sustainability very broadly, looking into economic, sociocultural and ecological sustainability of 114 European cities.• “We promote the partnership and collaboration between the city,
its residents, enterprises, Aalto University and other stakeholders in all our operations," the Major, Mr. Mäkelä said. "Being a responsible trailblazer is one of Espoo's values, and it involves the commitment to develop Espoo in a socially, ecologically and economically sustainable manner.”
• Strengthening the rights and status of girls and women •Developing the economies of developing countries to create jobs, industries and well-being.
•Strengthening of democracy and the functioning of societies
•Improving food security and sustainability of natural resources

Conclusion• It is not necessary to be rich
in order to reach a sustainable path of development
• But sustainable development is necessary if the country wants to get rich
• The key is: involve the people as stakeholders, shareholders of future
• Children first !
• The “future generation” is already here.
• Children will shoulder the gravest consequences of climate change despite they contributed least to the emergence of the problem. Children belong at the center of the sustainable development agenda.
