On 1st July 1916, the bloodiest battle of WW1 took place when 19,240 men died on the Somme. Retrace their steps with the Somme Association through Thiepval Woods, visiting Hawthorn Crater, Sunken Lane and the Ulster Tower. First, we visit the Commonwealth War Graves ‘Experience’ Centre where the specialist teams work to ensure ‘they will never be forgotten’.
