Daily Schedule Children’s House through Middle School The Drop-Off and Pick-Up procedures are the same as during the school year. Please note that times vary from the school year. Morning Drop-Off 8:45-9:00am Morning Pick-Up 12:00-12:10pm Afternoon Pick-Up 3:00-3:10pm Snacks Will be provided Lunch Full day students will need to bring a sack lunch with a drink. We do try to picnic as much as possible so please do not send microwave items. Lunches will be refrigerated in the morning. Milk will not be provided.

Summer Program Schedule Details

RMS Summer programs take place for eight consecutive weeks. You may choose any number of weeks, including 1/2 and full day options. Please note: if your child attends 1/2 day Toddler or 1/2 day Children’s House during the regular school year, you must choose only 1/2 day during the summer

Early Arrival and Late Pick-Up are available for Children’s House through Middle School only.

Use the enrollment form on the last page of this booklet to sign up. Additional registration forms are available at the reception desk or online. Please us a separate form for each student. Current RMS families will receive priority placement until March 1st. After this date, registration for elementary—middle school programs will be open to the general public. All classes have limited space. All classes are subject to having enough enrollment. We will do our best to notify you at least 30 days in advance if a class is cancelled. If RMS cancels a class, you will be refund-ed 100% of any tuition collected.

If you need to make a cancellation or change, please make it in writing and you will be refunded as follows:

On or before March 16 = Full refund March 17– May 12 = 50% refund After May 12 = No refund

All tuition is collected via auto-withdrawal. If you do not currently have an arrangement with us, please include a voided check with your registration. Fees will be withdrawn on or about March 20th. If you enroll a student for 4 or more weeks, you may use our deferred payment plan and the fees will be divided into 2 payments. The 2nd half of your payment will be withdrawn on or about May 19th. Financial Aid is not available.

Daily Schedule Drop your child in the Toddler classroom from 8:50-9:00 am and pick up at the classroom from 12:00-12:10 for half day students. Morning snack will be provided. Those tod-dlers staying for a full day will transition to the Dayhouse environment at 12:00 for lunch and naps. Pick up in the afternoon will be at 3:00pm at the benches. We do not offer EA or LPU in the summer for toddlers.

The summer toddler program is open to children who are currently enrolled and attending the RMS toddler program. In addition to daily activities taking place in the classroom, the gross motor room, and our outdoor envi-ronments, the children will enjoy a theme each week that includes art activities and books.

Week 5 (Sharri) “Art brings imagination to life”- Muñoz Imagine the things we can create in a week using different media like paint, clay, recycled pieces and more. We’ll put our imaginations and creativity to work!

Week 6 (Nolan) Adventure Week 2 We will spend most of each day away from the RMS campus to explore the wonderful things southeast Minnesota has to offer. We will go to Lark Toys to play mini golf and ride the carousel, attend a Rochester Honkers Baseball Game, go to the Minnesota Zoo and visit Mystery Cave in Spring Valley. In addition to these trips we will also be visiting area parks for lunch and recess. Week 7 (Nolan) Sports Week Lace up those athletic shoes and get ready for some sports. During this week we will learn the fundamentals and practice your skills of various sports. We will top off the week with a trip to play mini golf at Skyline Raceway. Please make sure your student dresses appropriately for this week of spending most of the day outside.

Week 8 (Bre) Erdkinder Intermediate The Erdkinder Intermediate course at RMS is an environmental immersion course devoted to in-spiring stewardship and social responsibility as well as developing an appreciation and under-standing of our school campus. Students will tend the garden and prepare snacks, care for the chickens, build a project (bird feeders/bathouses), investigate water quality and soil chemistry, identify plant and animal species, par-ticipate in an ag-inspired Book Circle [sections of

Giants in the Earth by Ole Rolvaag and Little House on the Prairie by Laura Engels Wilder], keep a nature journal and blog to document our observa-tions and experiences. Please come prepared in your large brimmed hat, farm clothes, closed toed shoes and gloves!

Week 1 (Mark) Robotics Hydro Dynamics Challenge On your mark— get set—FLOW! Drink in the 2017 HYDRO-DYNAMICS challenge and learn all about water– how we find, transport, use or dispose of it. First LEGO league challeng-es kids to think like scientists and engi-neers. We will build, test, and program an autonomous robot using LEGO MIND-STORM technology to solve a set of mis-sions in the Robot Game.

Week 2 (Bre) Elements of Student Filmmaking How can I make my very own movie? This course will study how stories turn into moving pictures by participating in creative daily workshops on scripts, filming, and editing. By the end of the week we will have made our very own short films, and will celebrate with popcorn and a showcase of

our work. So, whether you are interested in the amazing craft of visual storytelling, or if you want to prepare for the annual MYP Film Festival, this course is right for you. Week 3 AM (Nicole) Fun with Food In the classroom and in the kitchen, we’ll explore the chem-istry of baking and preserving food as well as just have fun trying new recipes and techniques, plus enjoy eating it all! Week 3 PM (Nolan) Independence Day We will be learning about Independence Day and the history surrounding it this Fourth of July week. Traditional games will be played as well as a campfire lunch cook out!

Week 4 (Nicole) Community Service & Adventure-This week we’ll have the opportunity to experience a va-riety of outings, including volunteering our time in service to others, hiking and swimming at Whitewater State Park, a trip to Bowlocity and relaxing with a movie!

Week 1 (Kate) Tropical Rainforest Join us as we visit the dark, wet world of the rainforest.

Each day we will explore one of the four layers of the rainforest and discover the plants and animals that live

there.

Week 2 (Kate) The North and South Poles Come travel with us to the top and bottom of our earth! We will meet many of the animals that live in these “frigid” zones and explore fun artwork, like ice-painting.

Week 3 (Kate) Let’s Celebrate the USA!

Celebrate the USA with Stars and Stripes! We will enjoy red, white and blue arts and crafts and snacks. We will also learn about some of the interesting landmarks of our country.

Week 4 (Kate) The Cool Colors of Summer Now that summer is heating up, let’s explore the cool water and the colors of blue, purple, and green. We will taste, touch, and smell our way through foods, flowers and wonders of summer, to discover color.

Week 5 (Nicole) Spanish Immersion Join us for a fun immersion experience learning the Spanish language and en-joying various aspects of Hispanic culture from all over the Spanish-speaking world! Art, music, cul-ture, dancing, food… ¡todo en español!

Week 6 (Andy) “Adventure Too!” We will spend most of each day away from the RMS campus to explore the wonderful things southeast Minnesota has to offer. Join us for this “sport of the mind.” This will explore basic

concepts for beginners.
