Montessori Philosophy Montessori is a personalized approach to learning which recognizes that each child learns with a unique style and pace, and that children learn best in a prepared environment that supports and respects their individual development. It is also based on the premise that the intellectual, physical and social needs of children are inseparable and equally im- portant. The century-old Montessori method is based on how children learn naturally. Montessori students develop posive atudes about learning, a posive image of themselves as learners and a strong sense of independence and responsibility. The Montessori experience produces self-movated, independent learn- ers with characteriscs that benefit them throughout their school years and into adult- hood. Early Childhood Program (Ages 2 1/2- 6) Elementary I (ages 6 – 9) Elementary II (ages 10 - 12) Montessori Cerficaon Applicants who are not currently Montessori cerfied must be commied to compleng Montessori Cerficaon within a 4 year period through the Center for Montessori Teacher Educaon in Huntersville, NC. District pays for the teachers cerficaon, lodging and meals Must sign a contract to complete training within 4 years Early Childhood and Elementary I Cerficaon requires Summer Inten- sive seminars in June and July. Montessori Certification

Applicants who are not currently Montessori certified must be committed to

completing Montessori Certification within a 4 year period through the

Center for Montessori Teacher Education in Huntersville, NC.

District pays for the teacher’s certification, lodging and meals

Must sign a contract to complete training within 4 years

Early Childhood and Elementary I Certification requires Summer Inten-

sive seminars in June and July. All levels of certification require monthly
