High School Schedule JHS operates on a 4x4 Block Schedule

Four 90 minute classes per semester Five minutes to change classes

Grading System Grading Scale

A = 90-100 = 4.0 grade pointsB = 80-89 = 3.0 grade

points C = 73-79 = 2.0 grade pointsD = 70-72 = 1.0 grade pointsF = Below 70 = 0.0 grade points

Grading System Grading Standards

Advanced Placement (AP) level courses carry a 10 point weight added to the final grade.

Must take the AP exam AND have a 70 average or higher to receive bonus points.

Honors level courses carry a 5 point weight added to the final grade.

To enter the 12th Grade: 20 credits (12 Core Classes)

Graduation Requirements Jefferson High School offers a College/Career

Preparatory Diploma which requires a minimum of 28 credits for graduation.

Advanced Academic Pathways The 4 required units in a core

academic area (ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies) must be taken.

Medical Terminology Nutrition Intro to Healthcare

Lanier Tech (Spring Semester) Nursing – lab skills Nursing – patient care

Certified Nursing Assistant CNA exam administered after completion of

this pathway. Students may work at a hospital, long term

care facility or assisted living facility. Gain valuable experience in nursing

Work Based Learning Students may work during school hours at

a facility that coincides with the student’s career choice and prior course work. Local Examples:

Student Organization

Health Occupations Students of America

Students at JHS who are members of HOSA organize annual blood drives at JHS and participate in various fund raisers and activities throughout the year. Community Service is a focus of this club.
