First of all we are Thankful to ALLAH (swt) who has blessed us with a drive to work for a good cause than we are grateful to Respectable Pro-Chancellor Riphah International University and DMT IIMCT Mr. Hassan Muhammad Khan for his unconditional and maximum support and confidence in RSWD. district and held number of free medical services. It is a proud privilege of IIMCT that

they had provided medical services in Thar area and also installed hand pumps in

previous projects as well.

the Secretary Health Sindh and Director General Health Sindh were approached; they confirmed and appreciated the Riphah initiative for Tharparkar relief activity, they deputed the District Health Officer to facilitate Riphah team.

Dr. Azhar Haleem Meeting with Deputy Commissioner, Mithi

Moreover, meetings were held with local NGOs and Government bodies and they all

cordially welcomed us. This was very encouraging and source of motivation.

With the grace of Allah (Subhan wa Taa’la) a team of Riphah Social Welfare

Department (RSWD), Islamic International Medical College Trust/Riphah International

University, Islamabad, visited the Tharparkar’s (SINDH) drought area at “Taulaka

MITHI” Senior Programme Manager of RSWD lead the Riphah team on 26th March,

2016 to 2nd April 2016 and perform the rehabilitation/Medical care services, provide the

edible goods packets, livestock and drilled the water wells for them.

Our journey from the Capital of Pakistan to Capital of Tharparkar was one of rare and a

memorable journey. A journey from presence of all to absence of all was a painful

realization. The entire students who were with me in the train enjoyed a lot with smiling

faces cracking jokes throughout the way. The moment we landed at Taulaka MITHI

seems like a magic world because the sun immediately snatches all the smiles and

comfort from our faces and the miseries which were spread all over the land pluck out

all the hopes from our hearts and souls .It was unbelievable but a cruel fact that the land

which was created in the name of Islam where we all were supposed to help each other,

there humanity lies helpless and hopeless. A sudden wave remind us we are here to do

Page 5: Riphah Social Welfare Department Relief Actvities... · Riphah Social Welfare Department March 26th to April 26th 2016. ... Tharparkar desert in Sindh is the largest desert of Pakistan

give hope not just to be spectators. We started our relief activities without taking care of

merciless sun and bothering about the comforts we left far away. The spark in the eyes

of people who were treated , who were supported regarding food , gifted with livestock

gave us hope and guide us a new vision towards life a revelation of its own kind.

The moment Riphah team started relief activities the land suddenly appear to be

beautiful the merciless sun turn into a source to do more , the misery prevailing

everywhere started fading away.

Following are the details of relief activities:
