Year 11 Girls Festival – 10th November, Gosford All Blacks RFC

70 girls from 6 different schools took part in the first ever Year 11 Girls festival. This had been requested by the students who had taken part in previous Year 9 & 10 events and

wanted to continue with competitive rugby. 74 tries were scored throughout the festival and some excellent rugby was on show.

Year 8 Boys Festival – 19th November, Banbury RFC

330 boys from 22 different schools proved that rugby is becoming firmly established in the county’s schools. Roughly 30% of those taking part only participate in rugby at school so this remains an important opportunity to inspire new club members. 110 tries were scored on the day.

Year 9/10 Girls Festival – 26th November, Gosford All Blacks RFC

130 girls from 9 different schools provided 10 teams to this event (one school was able to field two teams). Again there was some excellent rugby on display and it is hoped that many of those that took part have been inspired to investigate joining their local team. 76 tries were scored throughout the tournament. The top two teams will progress through to a regional event later in the year.

Oxfordshire College Games Touch Rugby – 18th November, Blackbird Leys

40 college students took part in the second Oxfordshire College Games Touch Rugby Festival. Teams from Henley, City Of Oxford and Abingdon & Witney Colleges took part in a seven-a-side mixed touch competition aimed at students not currently engaged in sport. Most colleges used a student who is currently playing to encourage peers to take part, including those students coaching and encouraging the teams.
