RFID TECHNOLOGY IS EVERYWHERE
Secure encrypted mobile communication
Core technologies
SQL / .NET
SSRS / SSAS / SSIS
HOW IT WORKS
• Ultra High Frequency (UHF) Technology ~ 900 MHz –Unique Encoding
• Most commonly used technology in Europe and USA for wheeled containers
• Typical read range of tag 1 - 10m (Tuneable via Antenna).
• Vehicle Tracking showing Lift record with a Tag and customer
RFID TECHNOLOGY - UHF

LESSONS LEARNT AND
CHALLENGESUse of RFID tagging overseas has principally been for pay per lift customers
Communications
• Messaging to focus on a “fair collection process”
• Residents don’t want miss out on being tagged!
Tagging needs to keep pace with communications
Tagging new bins is more cost effective and is future-proofing.
Limit RFID signals to those from the bins
Commercial areas
Ability to read RFID tag with modern sideload operations
• Positioning of the antenna
• Speed of lift
• Unique project following Christchurch earthquakes
• Significant savings
• Better management of MGBs
• Database clean up
• Residents generally understand and accept the benefits of the project
• Excellent example of Council / contractor collaboration
• New developments likely in truck technology
