Course Description This course discusses important events in the history of the Philippines from the earliest period to thecontemporary. It discusses the interrelationship of important factors that were responsible for the formation of
Philippine, nationhood, the state and the countrys economy; how the past affected the countrys present and
how will it help contribute to its future.
Course Intended Learning
Outcomes
After completing this course, STUDENTS SHOULD BE ABLE TO
1. Define history, its characteristics, methodology and its importance to nationhood, nation-building, and
policy-making;
2. Discuss the life of early Filipinos and their interactions with the peoples of neighboring countries;
3. Discuss factors and events leading to the arrival of Europeans and Americans to the Philippines and
narrate factors that led to the colonization of the country;
4. Analyze the development of Filipino nationalism;
5. Assess the policies, the evolution of the state of the economy, economic system, peoples livelihood and
the general socio-politico situation of the country;6. Discuss the problems and challenges faced by the country and prescribe solutions.

Course Policies:
1. Regular attendance is expected. In case of failure to attend the class session due to unavoidable circumstances, show
necessary documents (Medical Certificate, Excuse Letters, etc.) that validate your excuse for being absent. A student who has
been absent is responsible for making up for any work missed;2. A limit of ten (10) hours of absences is allowed for every student. Failure to comply is considered Failed due to absences;
3. Active participation is expected in every session;
4. Must subscribe to prescribed social media group for the class;
5. Observe carefully the dates of deadline. Failure to submit on deadlines will not be accepted;
6. Always consult the instructor in dealing problems in the class on the prescribed consultation period set by the teacher;
7. Cleanliness and orderliness as well as good behavior inside the classroom must be strictly observed;
8. Intellectual and academic honesty is expected of everyone. Acknowledge all sources of information used in your papers;
