    MIND-SETTINGS TO BE DONE

    BEFORE MARKING PAPER 2

    1. The PP changes every year.

    2. English is our second language so someleeways can be given when marking scripts.

    3. Relevancy is the keypoint when marking allquestions in Paper 2.

    4. All answers are considered at sentence levelbut NOT banded (graded) at sentence level.

    5. The quality is not the length or handwritingbut how the language is used to write andhis/her fluency and proficiency.

    6. An excellent script for Q.3 is what that hasbeen written is much more than what are given( in the pictures and words ).

    7. Steps in marking Q1, 2B & 3. 7.1Read as a whole. Band script.

    7.3 - One irrelevancy (very unclear meaningor sentence) occurs in the script, it is no longerin Excellent band.

    8. The ACHIEVEMENT band is fulfilled when the scriptachieves the requirement of English as the secondlanguage.

    9. American English spelling is accepted if it is being

    used throughout for the same word/words in one answer.10. Excellent means very confident and proficient use of

    the language. It does not mean PERFECT.

    11. The ability to construct a variety of sentences qualifiesfor higher bands.

    12. When marking Q.3, use 7% ( from ACHIEVEMENTband ) as the cut off point. So, the descriptors for ACmust be properly understood.

    ANSWER FOR 5% & 0%. I would prefer to choose Set A,

    the mushroom soup becausemy favourite meat is beef. Asthe main meal is beef burgerand with a complimentary of somany other food to go with it, I

    think this set suits me most.Yam is my favourite and so iscoffee. Besides this, I can startoff my meal with mushroomsoup and I love mushroomsvery much. Grilled, boiled, friedor whatever way they arecooked, I just love mushrooms.So, from the reasons Ive listedabove, Set A is definitely mychoice even though it isRM12.00.

    QUESTION 3SAMPLE

    ANSWER FOR 15% & 0% A few teachers were scurrying into the hall. Two teachers, whoaredressed

    smartly, were waiting at the main entrance of the hall. A few prefects, with a stalk of

    flower each in their hands, were walking toward some teachers. It was a wonderful

    and fine morning, the 16thof May !

    Almost all the teachers and pupils had gathered in the hall of SK Bukit Rumpair.

    They were going o celebrate Teachers Day. Soon, the headmaster arrived at the hall

    with his two senior assistants beside him. Immediatly, he went up onto the stage. Hedelivered a short speech and remindsthe pupils about the sacrifices which the

    teachers of the school make each year. Then, the discipline teacher, Cik Rani, who

    was the compere of the ceremony, thanked the headmaster for his speech. She

    asked all the teachers and pupilin the hall to give a big clap to their most respected

    headmaster. The hall exploded with thunderous claps.

    There were many events participated by teachers and pupils. The teachers wereentertained with songs by the Year 6 Ahead pupils. Three of them sang and

    dedicated a song, To Sir With Love to their English teacher, Mr. Kam. The morning

    progressed further with sketchs, drama, poem recital and finally, a friendly football

    match between the school team and the male teachers. It was indeed an enjoyable

    day for all the pupils and teachers of SK Bukit Rumpair.
