Review September Automotive Roundtable in Shanghai, September 1, 2016 - Future Cars- September Automotive Roundtable, the first edition in Shanghai, gathered industry experts and professionals from Qoros, Volkswagen, FAW-VW, Continental, Brose, Delphi, Faurecia, FEV, Thyssenkrupp, ZF, Accenture and so. The participants had a lively discussion on the potential Future Cars, including technologies, infrastructures, business model, related services and so on. Speakers from the left to the right: Mr. Bill Russo, Managing Director, Gao Feng Advisory Company; Mr. Roger Looney, VP of Vehicle Engineering - Vehicle Systems Development, including Electric Drivetrain & Autonomous Driving, Qoros; Mr. Bevin Jacob, Head of Biz Dev, APAC, Continental Intelligent Transportation Systems; Mr. John Shen, Managing Director, Accenture Strategy, Greater China

Mr. Bill Russo, Managing Director, Gao Feng Advisory Company as the moderator, firstly gave a short introduction on the Future of Automotive Innovation. He believes that connectivity is transforming the automobile into an intelligent platform for a wide variety of in-vehicle and external services.

Mr. Roger Looney, VP of Vehicle Engineering - Vehicle Systems Development, including Electric Drivetrain & Autonomous Driving, Qoros gave the presentation on Autonomous Timing: Expectations Verses Reality. He pointed out several OEMs or big internet companies announced new strategic plans focusing on mobility and connected services, however not everyone can be the winner. He also discussed the possibility whether the future car will be an electric vehicle.

Mr. Bevin Jacob, Head of Biz Dev, APAC, Continental Intelligent Transportation Systems presented on Integrated Mobility. Transportation Redefined. He believes that in general in three to five years it will be the trend that the vehicle has the autopilot. With connected and autonomous technology becoming increasingly vital to businesses that need to manufacture, store, move, ship inventory or move people around, a convergence of technology, behavior and new Business models come out, including sharing pays, migrating from ownership to usage based model and so on. He pointed out the for tomorrow’s situation, there will be 3 important factors: sensors, maps and online data. He thinks that connectivity and cloud-based server systems are the extension to everything beyond vehicle sensor range. In the future the car can organically produce own maps. With digital improvements in public transportation, in public data, in infrastructure, in deliver, and in V2X communication, cities will become even better places to live than before.

Mr. Bill Russo, Managing Director, Gao Feng Advisory Company chaired the whole night and raised several thought-provoking questions for the panel discussion from the perspective of the next revolution in personal mobility, features of the future car, autonomous driving, regulations and safety and so on.

Mr. John Shen, Managing Director, Accenture Strategy, Greater China joined in the panel discussion together with other speakers and shared his view on the features of future cars, how the marketing and ownership model change with these technologies of the future, the safety issue of intelligent transportation control network and so on.
