WHAT WE DONE IN LESSON• In lesson we looked at the mark scheme for the highest band as we would all love to

achieve the highest marks possible. After having a better understanding of what our music video needs to consist of to achieve top marks we looked at previous students music video and analysed them.

• The previous year done very well, the ones we looked at either got highest marks of just below them giving us a visual idea of how our video should me like.

ANALYSIS OF PREVIOUS STUDENT MUSIC VIDEO• After looking at Goodwin, Mulvey and Vernallis theory's I knew what to look at for in the

music video to see if the previous students have followed their theory.

• I decided to analyse group 23 and found out the gained full marks for the end result.

DOES IT FOLLOW GOODWIN’S THEORY ?• The group had chosen a dubstep song which I was able to spot due to the generic

signifiers of the costume and prop.

• The structure of the music video doesn’t exactly follow the chorus verse chorus instead it follows the structure of day and night.

• The artist is constantly breaking the 4 th wall, allowing the viewers to have a connection with the artist and make them feel “apart” of the music video.

DOES IT FOLLOW MULVEY’S THEORY? • Although there is no male artist, the music video consists of aspects from Mulvey’s

theory.

The choice of clothing represents there is a male gaze. The short fitted black dress allows the viewers to see her figure and some flesh appealing to both gender audiences.

DOES IT FOLLOW VERNALLIS?

As seen on the screenshot of a fade transition the music video consist of obvious editing to emphasis them.Cut transitions were used throughout the music video.

The camera moved in time with the music, making the audience more easier to remember the video.

• I can tell a lot of planning and research has gone into their music video. The location and settings stood out from other previous students music video for example the warehouse setting. After watching the video in class we found out they paid £50 to use the location and only had one hour to complete everything they wanted to. Having a limited amount of time and still being able to get creative shots shows they knew exactly what the wanted and need to do . The use of lighting made the camera shots and movement clear and visible.
